Boys and Girls Nation Capital Hill Day

All 200 Boys and Girls Nation Senators met with their state US Senators and Representatives yesterday, Thursday, July 23, 2026. Pictured here, Michigan Boys Nation Senator Adam Saad met with his District Representatives, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI 12th US Congressional District) on the steps of the Capital and was ushered into the House chamber for a brief tour. In the afternoon, all 4 MI Senators, (Girls Nation - Aarshia Soni & Mrudhula Kannan, Boys Nation - Joseph Emerson & Adam Saad) met with Boys Nation Alum, and Michigan US Senator Gary Peters.

Boys & Girls Nation at Twilight Tattoo - Joint Base Meyer-Henderson Hall

A tradition at Boys and Girls Nation - An inspiring evening showcasing the US Army's reenactments of the Army through history and it's milestone moments. Themed music, historical perspective, uniforms through the years, and demonstrations on the capabilities of today's military and more specifically, the US Army. A proud moment to be an American. Afterwards, Senators were able to mingle with actors who are all active duty Army soldiers stationed at JBMHH. To end the evening, Boys Nation visited the famous US Marine Corp War Memorial where Madison City Counselor and USMC Veteran and Legionnaire Riley Harvell from South Carolina shared his story about his Day-of-Days in Iraq. A somber and inspiring moment.

Michigan Boys Nation Senators Passing Bills

Senators Emerson and Saad are making a huge impact here in DC. Senator Emerson reads all the bills that come to the floor for debate and votes. Today, he read his teammate's bill from Senator Saad - "Dirty Money Out of Politics Act." Adam gave a rousing speech on the floor prior to the debate and vote. He is a master orator and speech maker. It eventually passed, 62 Yea to 30 Nay. See these two in action.

American Legion Michigan Boys Nation Senators Appointed to President's Cabinet

Senators Adam Saad from Troy and David Emerson from Grand Rapids earned a position on the President's cabinet by being appointed as Senate Parliamentarian (Adam) and Senate Clerk (David). The pictures are from this morning's swearing-in of all 100 Senators representing all 50 states who have come to Marymount University in Arlington, VA to form Boys Nation. A proud moment for everyone, but a special proud moment for Michigan Boys State. Both Adam and David have made a huge impression already. They're the Right Stuff. This was day one...more to follow.
