It’s National Rescue Dog Day! 🐶🤍

Today we celebrate rescue dogs everywhere:the goofy ones, shy ones, senior pups, couch potatoes, adventure buddies, and everything in between.

At Sanctuary Paws Alliance, we believe pets are family. Whether a pet came from a shelter, rescue, foster home, or a family who fought hard to keep them safe through a difficult season, every story matters.

Our mission is rooted in protecting the bond between people and their pets during times of crisis, because sometimes the support a family needs most is the chance to stay together.

Transformation Thursday ✨

Sometimes transformation doesn’t mean finding a new family.

Sometimes it means helping a family stay together.

At Sanctuary Paws Alliance, our mission is to support people and pets during crisis by providing temporary foster care, resource coordination, and compassionate support when families are facing housing instability, medical emergencies, domestic violence, or other hardships.

Because no one should have to lose their best friend simply because they’re going through a hard season.

Support changes lives.
Stability changes lives.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our founder, Monica Hnatiuk, for being recognized by the University of Michigan–Flint College of Health Sciences and receiving a Dean’s Award 💙

Monica founded Sanctuary Paws Alliance with a mission to keep people and their pets together during times of crisis through temporary foster care and support services. Seeing her passion, advocacy, and hard work recognized is such an amazing moment — not just for her, but for our entire organization.

This recognition reflects the heart behind SPA and the importance of supporting both human and animal welfare together. We are so excited for what’s ahead and grateful to everyone who has supported this mission along the way.

Student impact in action 💙

Monica Hnatiuk, a junior studying social work at the University of Michigan-Flint, has founded Sanctuary Paws Alliance (SPA), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and their pets during times of crisis.

SPA works to prevent the surrender or abandonment of companion animals by providing temporary foster care and support for those facing housing instability, hospitalization, or other life challenges.

“Our mission is to look at what prevents people from bringing their pets with them, what leads to abandonment, and how we can create solutions.”

Through compassion, innovation, and a commitment to both human and animal welfare, Monica is making a meaningful difference in her community.

Today our team spent the day at the Michigan State Capitol for Advocacy Day with the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness

We met with state representatives and a senator’s staff about policies and bills that support people experiencing homelessness.

We’re proud to represent Sanctuary Paws Alliance and advocate for people and their pets. 🧡
