We're honored to have been part of the Spring 2026 Nonprofit Accelerator cohort! 🎉
We've had the opportunity to learn from incredible leaders and partners while strengthening our knowledge in leadership, governance, fundraising, grant writing, and so much more.
Thank you Advancing Macomb for this incredible opportunity, and our fellow cohort members for such an inspiring experience. We're excited to apply what we've learned as we continue growing our impact for pets and the people who love them.

On June 4, we had the honor of hosting our Spring 2026 Nonprofit Accelerator cohort members to enjoy a closing toast complete with good food, great company, and a presentation of certificates for all their hard work over the past few months.

During this session of the Accelerator, cohort participants and our partners covered a variety of topics from leadership and governance, to fundraising and grant writing, to decision-making led by data.

We'd like to say a special thank you to Accelerator alumni Starkweather Arts Center for hosting the toast at their beautiful, historic building in downtown Romeo.

We are so proud of this cohort and look forward to all the wonderful things they will accomplish in the future!

‼️Urgent short-term foster needed for large dog 🐾

We are looking for a temporary foster for a large dog whose owner is dealing with an unexpected emergency.

This would be for up to one week, and food will be provided. At this time, he needs to be the only dog in the home.

We are looking for someone comfortable with larger dogs who can provide a safe place for him to stay.

This kind of short-term support can make a huge difference for someone and can help keep a beloved pet safe until they are able to reunite.

If you are able to help, or know someone who may be able to foster for a few days, please message us. Shares are also deeply appreciated.

It’s National Rescue Dog Day! 🐶🤍

Today we celebrate rescue dogs everywhere:the goofy ones, shy ones, senior pups, couch potatoes, adventure buddies, and everything in between.

At Sanctuary Paws Alliance, we believe pets are family. Whether a pet came from a shelter, rescue, foster home, or a family who fought hard to keep them safe through a difficult season, every story matters.

Our mission is rooted in protecting the bond between people and their pets during times of crisis, because sometimes the support a family needs most is the chance to stay together.

Transformation Thursday ✨

Sometimes transformation doesn’t mean finding a new family.

Sometimes it means helping a family stay together.

At Sanctuary Paws Alliance, our mission is to support people and pets during crisis by providing temporary foster care, resource coordination, and compassionate support when families are facing housing instability, medical emergencies, domestic violence, or other hardships.

Because no one should have to lose their best friend simply because they’re going through a hard season.

Support changes lives.
Stability changes lives.
Keeping families together changes everything. 🐾

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our founder, Monica Hnatiuk, for being recognized by the University of Michigan–Flint College of Health Sciences and receiving a Dean’s Award 💙

Monica founded Sanctuary Paws Alliance with a mission to keep people and their pets together during times of crisis through temporary foster care and support services. Seeing her passion, advocacy, and hard work recognized is such an amazing moment — not just for her, but for our entire organization.

This recognition reflects the heart behind SPA and the importance of supporting both human and animal welfare together. We are so excited for what’s ahead and grateful to everyone who has supported this mission along the way.

Student impact in action 💙

Monica Hnatiuk, a junior studying social work at the University of Michigan-Flint, has founded Sanctuary Paws Alliance (SPA), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and their pets during times of crisis.

SPA works to prevent the surrender or abandonment of companion animals by providing temporary foster care and support for those facing housing instability, hospitalization, or other life challenges.

“Our mission is to look at what prevents people from bringing their pets with them, what leads to abandonment, and how we can create solutions.”

Through compassion, innovation, and a commitment to both human and animal welfare, Monica is making a meaningful difference in her community.
