What a way to wrap up October! 🍂🎃
The second half of October was packed with fun, meaningful connections, community engagement, and unforgettable moments for PGCC and our amazing community!

We've been keeping busy doing what we love most—bringing people together to create new memories that strengthen relationships, build community, spread awareness, and make a positive impact!

As always, a huge THANK YOU to our incredible partners, volunteers, friends, and supporters who help make these experiences so special.

Loot boxes. Case openings. Betting skins with your friends. None of it looks like a casino, but it runs on the same idea: put something up, hope the odds land your way.

Knowing that is the first step to spotting the moment the game turns into a bet.

Same game. Different stakes. Learn more at cogamblerhelp.org/youth-problem-gambling.

Would you know if your teen was betting online? A recent study showed over a third of teen boys gambled in the past year and most of their parents had no idea (source: Common Sense Media).

If it happens in your home, resist the urge to lecture. Here are some tips on how to approach the conversation:

1. Start With Questions: Ask open-ended questions to learn what your child already knows or thinks about gambling.
2. Create a Judgment-Free Conversation: Listen calmly and without judgment so your child feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences.
3. Be Clear About Boundaries: Explain your family’s expectations around gambling and why those boundaries are important.

You don’t need to have all the answers to start the conversation. Learn more at COgamblerhelp.org.

It's been a busy and exciting couple of weeks for PGCC! While we've been out connecting with our communities and advancing our mission, we're still celebrating the incredible success of the 2026 Colorado Problem Gambling Conference! Let's take a moment to reflect on two unforgettable days of connection, collaboration, learning, and inspiration."

We had the privilege of bringing together behavioral health professionals, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, educators, advocates, community partners, and individuals with lived experience, all united by a shared commitment to reducing gambling-related harm across Colorado.

Perhaps our greatest takeaway is that every new connection creates an opportunity to build a stronger, more accessible, and compassionate gambling health system.

💚 A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible speakers, attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the conference such a meaningful experience. Your passion, expertise, and willingness to collaborate are what make progress possible.

Together, we can turn conversations into collaboration and collaboration into lasting change!

When it comes to problem gambling, separating myth from fact matters.

Problem gambling isn’t something someone can always “just stop,” and it shouldn’t be dismissed as not being serious. Effective treatments exist, recovery is possible, and understanding the potential harms of gambling addiction is important.
Learn more and find recovery options at COgamblerhelp.org.

It might seem like $20 here, $20 there, but those bets can add up.

Before you know it, you're chasing losses, placing one more bet to win back what you already lost.

If the chase is becoming hard to stop, support is available. Find resources at COGamblerHelp.org.

September was a fun and meaningful month for PGCC!

From the Annual Advocates for Recovery Rally for Recovery and 25th Annual Second Wind Fund Walk/Run 5K for Youth Su***de Prevention, to the 14th Annual West Metro Veterans Fair with Kindbridge Research Institute & Colorado Division of Gaming, the Auraria Campus Student Safety Event, PGCC September Cultural Community Event, pickleball with CaptivContent, and even some weekly art and exploring Downtown with friends. We loved connecting with our community throughout the month!

A huge THANK YOU to our volunteers, supporters, partners, and community members who continue to show up and make these experiences possible. We appreciate you! 🙌

Living with the quiet suspicion that a spouse, child, or family member has a gambling problem can feel isolating.

It's common to second-guess yourself when financial statements go missing or mood swings become frequent and hard to explain. If something feels off, there are steps you can take:

• Trust the behavioral shifts you’re noticing, such as unexplained secrecy or mood swings.
• Protect your shared finances without shame or judgment.
• Seek expert guidance before confronting the issue alone.

If you think a loved one might have a gambling problem, support is available at COGamblerHelp.com.

With the school year starting back up, students may be seeing more sports betting promos across their feeds.

Those marketing campaigns are designed to normalize high-risk wagers by making them feel low-risk and essential to campus sports culture. But chasing losses with tuition, rent, or textbook money is not part of the game plan.

Protect your peace of mind and your finances this semester.

Responsible Gaming Education Month is an opportunity to check in with your gambling habits and make sure you’re staying within the limits you set.

If you’re chasing losses, finding it difficult to cut back, or spending more time or money gambling than you intended, it may be time to take a closer look at your habits.

Set limits. Know the signs. Check in with yourself.

Take NCPG’s 10-question self-assessment to better understand your gambling behavior and whether it may be time to make a change or seek support: https://www.ncpgambling.org/help-treatment/problem-gambling-self-assessments/problem-gambling-self-assessment/
