IM, also known as American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, works cross-culturally to invite people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to proclaim, through both word and deed, God’s reign of justice, peace and abundant life for all creation Pero mientras estaban en las aguas, Judson comenzó a leer la Biblia en una nueva luz acerca del tema del bautismo en agua.
200 organizaciones socias
70 países

On February 6, 1812, Adoniram and Ann Judson were commissioned as missionaries from the Congregational Church and they set sail for India. But while out on the waters, Judson began to read the Bible anew about the issue of water baptism. Arriving at the conclusion that believers should be baptized by immersion, the Judsons were baptized by British Baptist missionaries when they reached Calcutta, India, that September. Their life-changing decision not only celebrated individual new life through baptism, but the birth of a new gathering of people, partners and churches: a new society of Christians who would support, send and celebrate the work of mission. That movement, formed in 1814, is known today as American Baptist International Ministries (IM). IM has grown and evolved over more than two centuries of ministry. It is the oldest Baptist mission agency in North America. Its central mission is to help people come to Christ, grow in their relationships with God and change their worlds through the power of the Spirit. It works with respected partners in over 70 countries in ministries that meet human need. From humble beginnings with two missionaries in Burma, IM is a family of relationships that today embraces more than:
5,200 U.S. and Puerto Rico churches
1,800 volunteer, short-term and long-term missionaries in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas
450 mission partnership team members
200 partner organizations
70 countries

I am writing to send you all a big hug, in recognition of what we have achieved—from every territory and within every unique reality. The poetry marathon was a success. Global View simply served as a bridge to bring us together. For six days, verses filled public spaces across the entire continent. We reclaimed some ground from sadness and fear, filling it instead with beautiful words—and that is something worth celebrating. For this reason, I invite us all to get together and talk about what we have accomplished. This is something that deserves to be shared. See you on Monday, November 2nd, at 6:00 PM (Ecuador time).
