The Philadelphia Bilingual Disability Resource Fairs were this past Friday and Saturday! We shared highlights from our North Philly fair. Today, take a look at the day we had on Saturday at the South Philly fair.

Between the various vendors, the delicious lunches from Taqueria Morales, the overwhelming sense of community, and more, the day was a success. We hope you had as much fun as we did and were able to meet people from different organizations that shared helpful resources.

These fairs would not be possible without the partnerships from the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity, and Esperanza Health Center and the sponsorships from WellKids by PA Health & Wellness, UPMC Health Plan, and AmeriHealth Caritas.

The Philadelphia Bilingual Disability Resource Fairs this past Friday and Saturday were a success! Here is a look at the fair on Friday at EL CORE at Esperanza Health Center in North Philadelphia.

We brought together vendors and community members to connect, share resources, and celebrate our communities. Together, we highlighted valuable bilingual resources that help people with disabilities and their families access the support they need without language barriers.

A sincere thank you to all the vendors, community members, and our sponsors, WellKids by PA Health & Wellness, UPMC Health Plan, and AmeriHealth Caritas, for helping make these events possible. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us in making these fairs a success!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The voter registration drive hosted by Access the Ballot and Integrate for Good that was scheduled for today at 6 PM at Ursinus College has been canceled!

Still looking for information on everything you need to know about your voting rights and the upcoming midterms? Don’t worry. Access the Ballot is partnering with Inglis with Councilmember Thomas and Representative Carroll for another voter registration drive on October 19th from 5:30 PM – 7 PM at the Inglis Innovation Center in Philadelphia.

Join us at Rep. Zachary Mako’s Third Annual Disabilities Resource Fair on Saturday, October 24th from 10 AM until 12 PM.

This free event is open to all and will help connect people with disability resources. In addition to resources, there will be live music from Hearts for Music and CLIU 21 will be there with their service dogs.

The Philadelphia Bilingual Disability Resource Fairs are THIS Friday and Saturday!

Thank you to WellKids by PA Health & Wellness for sponsoring FREE lunches for both the North and South Philadelphia locations for this event.

The North Philly fair is on Friday, October 9th from 10 AM to 12 PM at EL CORE at Esperanza Health Center. The South Philly fair is on Saturday, October 10th from 11 AM to 2 PM at G.W. Childs Elementary School. Come join us and speak with representatives from different organizations to see how they may be able to help you!

The fairs will bring together community members, service providers, and advocates for a day filled with disability resources in both English and Spanish, free health screenings, activities and games, face painting, and more.

We are still accepting vendor registration for both days. We ask that vendors provide materials written in both English and Spanish and have Spanish-speaking staff to attend.

Access to the ballot matters!

After meeting at Disability Pride Philadelphia, Leila, a Philadelphia high school student, reached out to our Director of Marketing and Outreach, Wendy, to mentor her Carnegie Young Leaders team on their project, Access the Ballot.

The mission of Access the Ballot is to educate, encourage, and help young people with disabilities to register to vote and to become more civically engaged. Their project includes accessible voter registration drives, a website that provides information about disability rights and voting options, and opportunities for young people with disabilities to become peer ambassadors.

Access the Ballot in partnership with Integrate for Good is holding a voter registration drive on October 13th from 6 to 8 PM at Commons 105 at Ursinus College. The event will begin with a presentation covering the basics of voting rights, how the voting process works, and why young people with disabilities have an important voice in elections. The team will then provide an opportunity for attendees to register to vote. Come to the event!

The team has also connected with other organizations, schools, and disability advocates including CADES, Bender Leadership Academy, Liberty Resources, and the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on People with Disabilities.

PATF is proud to support Leila and the Carnegie Young Leaders team. We’re excited to see the impact that they have on the community.

PATF had a great time at Disability Pride Pittsburgh this past weekend! We connected with people in the community and other vendors to share our resources and learn from each other. Together, we can create a more accessible and inclusive environment for people with disabilities.

While in Pittsburgh, we also attended UPMC Rehabilitation Institute’s Wheelchair Wash & Tune-Up. People had the opportunity to have their wheelchair washed, repaired, and evaluated.

We are proud to have attended both events and grateful for the opportunities.

PATF and friends had fun at the ballpark on Friday before the weekend storms!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Ring the Bell for Accessibility PATF Phillies night. We had a blast meeting everyone and watching the game together. The night also included PATF being mentioned on the big screen and students from Pennsylvania School for the Deaf signing the National Anthem before the game.

Money earned from every ticket bought goes directly toward supporting our mission – ensuring that people with disabilities and older adults can get the assistive technology they want and need.

We had a great time at the Autism Cares Foundation’s Race 4 Resources event on Saturday, September 19th.

It was a fun-filled day at Bucks County Community College and Tyler State Park that included a 5k race, 1-mile Family Walk, and a Service Provider Vendor Expo. The fun didn’t stop there! There was face painting, a moon bounce, and lunch from Outback, Carrabba’s, and Bonefish Grill.

We enjoyed connecting with the hundreds of attendees who came out to the event and sharing information about our financial loans, financial education, information and assistance programs, and smart home technology project.
