✨ Volunteer Spotlight: Tim & Jan Brooks
Since late 2021, Tim and Jan Brooks have been the friendly faces on Route 6 every Friday — delivering Meals on Wheels and building genuine relationships with the older adults they serve through Northland Shepherd’s Center in Kansas City, MO.

Jan, a nurse by trade, has always believed that caring for others is a calling. That spirit showed up during the pandemic, when she assisted with food distribution until NSC’s Plate of Hope pantry opened in 2022. Now, the couple helps older adults shop for their own groceries with dignity and choice — accommodating dietary needs and offering a warm, consistent presence every step of the way.

For Tim and Jan, it started as occasional volunteering. It became something they look forward to every single week.

💜 Some people retire from teaching. Dr. Chuck Chappell just found a better classroom.

Since 1998, Chuck has been sharing his love of American literature with LifeQuest of Arkansas — no grades, no attendance rosters, just a room full of curious, enthusiastic learners. That’s his kind of teaching.

We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Chappell as a 2026 National Volunteer Honoree. His passion for lifelong learning is an inspiration to us all. 🌟
