The Comstock Community Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency that serves the residents of Kalamazoo County. The Center addresses the needs of children, families and older adults by providing and hosting services that include: Child and Youth Development, Adult Programs, Emergency Assistance. Adult Programs improve the health and well-being of our community's older adults through regularly schedule
d activities such as fitness classes;Tai-chi, line dance and low-impact aerobics; educational classes; diabetes care and nutrition, driver safety, quilting, and gardening; regular social activities; Conversation Cafe' with our own Chef Louie, movie night, dances, Texas hold 'em and and day-trip travel excursions to both local and mystery destinations. The Center's Adult Program assures older adults access to services that are critical to maintaining independence and quality of life. The Center also offers a range of programs that help Kalamazoo County families address critical needs. In addition to programs provided in-house, we work in collaboration with a variety of local agencies as a "host" for their valuable programs. Our collaborators include: Loaves and Fishes, AARP, Senior Services, AA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H. These and other collaborations allow the Center to maximize its impact on the needs of local families. Programs for children and youth are held at the Community Learning Center (CLC) at 1046 River Street. Services include high-quality, curriculum-based Infant & Toddler Care (6 weeks - 2 1/2 years), Preschool (2 1/2 -5 years), Before & After School Care (K-5th grade), Summer Programs (K - 5th grade), Tutoring (K-5th grade). The CLC also operates 2 preschool classes on-site within Comstock Public Schools (CPS). Our collaboration with CPS is instrumental to offering Comstock-area families access to the services that prepare children and youth for success in school, work and life. In addition, the CLC's location adjacent to the I-94 Business Loop makes our high-quality programs accessible to families from throughout Kalamazoo County and eastern portions of Calhoun County.
