Happy Juneteenth! ❤️🖤💚

Join us in honoring our shared history, the communities that have and continue to mobilize for justice, and the work that still needs to be done. We hold these truths while uplifting the fact that joy, rest, and love are integral to our resistance.

We hope that you create space to be intentional today - whatever that looks like for you.

And we encourage you to have these conversations with young people in your lives!

Check out these upcoming events and post more in the comments!

⚡We are ONE MONTH AWAY from the National Day of Summer Learning!⚡

We'll see you July 16th in Bronson Park (Kalamazoo) and July 17th at Claude Evans Park (Battle Creek) from 11am-3pm 😎

What is the National Day of Summer Learning? These fun, family-friendly events raise awareness of the importance of summer learning on a national level. Research shows that youth who participate in high-quality out-of-school time (OST) programs build lifelong skills in social and emotional learning, leadership, and more. The demand for OST programs far exceeds the availability, so funding and support for these programs is critical. Join us as we advocate with music, free food, youth performances, and resource organizations from around the community!

Why summer learning? Kellogg Community Credit Union will tell you! 🪙

“At KCCU, we believe every young mind deserves the opportunity to grow, explore, and discover its full potential through learning that is inspiring, rewarding, and fun. Summer learning empowers youth to pursue their curiosity, build confidence and independence, and return with new knowledge and experiences to share with their classmates and teachers.”

Come to our National Day of Summer Learning events on July 16th and 17th to connect with local organizations and learn more about the incredible programs that support youth and families during the summer months.

On January 21, 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later, Hadiya was shot and killed on a playground in Chicago. Soon after this tragedy, Hadiya’s friends commemorated her life by wearing orange, the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.

honors Hadiya and the nearly 130 people shot and killed every day in the United States, along with the hundreds more who are wounded and the countless others whose lives have been changed by gun violence.

May we remember and honor our loved ones we have lost to gun violence & survivors of gun violence.
