Eviction notices are scary. The legal process is confusing. And most people wait too long to ask for help. Our Executive Director Sarah Cain and Program Director Marla LeMae sat down with Second Wave Media along with our friends from Fair Housing Center of Southwest Michigan and Legal Aid of Western Michigan to talk about what tenants in Kalamazoo actually need to know and what to do the moment things get shaky. Worth a read and worth sharing.

Facing eviction in Kalamazoo? Local housing advocates, fair housing experts, and Legal Aid attorneys explain tenants' rights, common eviction pitfalls, and the critical steps to take before a housing dispute leads to court.

Welcome Jacob!

Kalamazoo Housing Advocates Welcomes Jacob McCann as Our Newest Housing Advocate.

Jacob first came to KHA as an intern through Western Michigan University's social work program, where he demonstrated a strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations and supporting individuals and families experiencing housing instability. Throughout his internship, Jacob gained valuable hands-on experience while contributing to our mission of providing advocacy, support, and pathways to long-term housing stability for members of our community.

Since completing his internship, Jacob has earned his Master's degree in Social Work and has continued to grow both professionally and personally in his dedication to housing advocacy. His passion for helping others, combined with his education and practical experience, makes him an excellent addition to our team.

As a Housing Advocate, Jacob will work directly with individuals and families to help them navigate housing challenges, access community resources, and build stability for the future. We are thrilled to have him continue his journey with Kalamazoo Housing Advocates and look forward to the positive impact he will make in our community.

Please join us in congratulating Jacob on this exciting achievement and welcoming him to his new role as Housing Advocate at Kalamazoo Housing Advocates!
