We are the state of Iowa's Parent Training and Information Center for families of children with disabilities.

We are a family-focused nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower individuals with disabilities and their family members. Access for Special Kids (ASK) Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as the state of Iowa's Parent Training and Information Center for families of children and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs. ASK provides trainin

g, information, advocacy, and support at no cost for individuals with disabilities, their families, and the people who serve them. We are funded by various federal, state, and local grants, as well as corporate and private donations. To ensure the privacy of the families we serve, ASK does not provide one-on-one assistance or support directly through Facebook. 💙 What are HCBS Waivers?

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) help people with disabilities and older Iowans get the support they need to live at home and stay connected in their communities, instead of moving into an institution.

These waivers provide funding and individualized supports for eligible people so they can continue living in their own homes and communities with the services they need.

Facilitated by an ASK Resource Center Family Support Specialist, the ASK Each Other Support Group provides a welcoming space for parents and caregivers to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another as they navigate life after high school for their child with a disability. Bring your questions, resources, ideas, and successes to the conversation—because you are the expert on your child. Whether you're attending for the first time or returning to reconnect with familiar faces, you'll find support, encouragement, and practical information from families who understand the journey.
