Someone's chair is empty this holiday season.

Somewhere, an Iowa service member is spending the holidays far from home. Deployed, stationed overseas, or serving across the country.

So we're packing up a little love from home and sending it to them.

But we can only send a box to someone we know about.

What a beautiful evening for such an important and meaningful cause!

We encourage our friends, families, businesses, and community members to come together in support of the Salute of the Fallen Gala. This special evening is dedicated to honoring our fallen heroes, remembering their ultimate sacrifice, and surrounding our Gold Star Families with the love, gratitude, and support they so greatly deserve.

As Blue Star Mothers, we know the importance of standing together as a military community, not only in times of celebration but also in remembrance. Supporting organizations that continue to honor our fallen and care for the families they leave behind is something very close to our hearts.

One small piece of red clothing.

One very big message.

RED stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. Every Friday, people all over the country wear red to tell our service members: we see you, we haven't forgotten you, and we're standing behind you until you're home.

You don't need a uniform or a military connection to be part of this. A red shirt, a red scarf, even red socks. It all counts.

For someone serving far from home, knowing people they've never met are wearing red for them? That matters.

Always a highlight of our year! Thank you, USO Iowa and IA-ARNG Child & Youth Program, for allowing us to be part of such a wonderful event! Record-breaking attendance, beautiful weather, and a whole lot of fun rocking out with our military families made for a perfect day! We love being part of these special moments and making memories with our military community! 💙

THIS is what IOWA NICE looks like!!

WOW, BankIowa!! Just LOOK at all these donations!

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible generosity that came pouring in from BankIowa branches across the state!

A car FULL of goodies, monetary donations AND company-matched donations! And let me tell you, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect!

T-minus 15 days until the magic happens! Our Blue Star Mothers will be rolling up their sleeves, packing boxes full of love and sending a little piece of home to our Troops.

A very special shoutout to Angie, who helped coordinate all these amazing efforts and then went the extra mile (literally!) to deliver everything right to our storage unit so our moms could inventory, sort and get it all organized for the BIG week ahead!

To every BankIowa employee, customer and community member who contributed, THANK YOU! You may never meet the service member who opens a box filled with these goodies, but please know you are helping remind them that someone back home is thinking of them.

Thanks to Baker Group, popcorn is going into our holiday care packages this year.

Nothing says home or Iowa like corn.

For a service member far from home over the holidays, it's a small taste of where they come from and a reminder that Iowa is thinking about them.

Iowa, we need your help.

In just 17 days, Blue Star Mothers of Iowa packs the first boxes for our holiday Care Package Project. Service members who won't make it home for Christmas are about to get a little box of home, packed with love from Iowa.

We're so close. We just need a few more sponsors to help us cross the finish line.

Still needed:

• 1,800 mini notebooks
• 1,900 stress balls
• 1,600 puzzle books
• 10,000 ziplock baggies
• Lots of packing tape

We asked, and YOU delivered, Iowa sewing friends! 💙

The Lady Liberty bags keep coming! Originally intended to hold feminine hygiene products, these handmade bags have arrived in numbers beyond our expectations. With over 1,300 received, we’re now excited to include them in our male service members’ care packages, too—filled with personal hygiene essentials our troops need.

Thank you, Iowa, for answering our calls for help and putting so much love into every stitch. Your kindness is heading straight into the hands of our service members!
