Would you be interested in becoming a Clothing Closet volunteer? This is an important position, and great role for anyone who is interested in helping neighbors count and package their shopping finds! There is also the opportunity to sort and hang clothing donations, as space becomes available on the racks.

Thank you to the team at Rhea Lana's of West Des Moines for generously donating the clothing remaining after their big consignment sale. The clothing closet was able to benefit from 120 pound of children's items!

Owner, Diane, told us that she loves giving back, and feels like seeing the community work together is what her business is all about. We hope you will consider supporting this great, local, shop during their next sale!

The food pantry is out of canned corn and shelf stable chicken. If you would be interested in donating, these are staple items that we prefer to keep stocked. The Johnston Partnership Food Pantry and Clothing Closet would love your helping hands in the month of October. Volunteer shifts are currently open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays between the hours of 8:45am-1:15pm.

If you have a couple hours, and are interested in helping your neighbors- sign up for an open position. Shout out to Johnston Student Ishaan Suyal for founding ClearSkies, a student-led nonprofit that monitors indoor radon levels in Iowa homes. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., and Iowa has some of the highest radon levels in the country. Most residents never test.

Thanks to Ishaan and ClearSkies, The food pantry is proud to be taking part in monitoring radon, to help map radon risk across Johnston. Ishaan is a great example of a young person, helping his community, and we love to support young leaders! We also encourage you to support ClearSkies and consider testing in your own home.
