The Johnston Partnership currently supports the Johnston School District community through JUMP (Johnston Youth Mentoring Program) for children in grades 5-12, the Johnston/DMARC Food Pantry which provides food and personal products to families in need and the Clothes Closet which offers gently used clothing items. Saint James Lutheran Church runs another community garden that helps fight local food insecurity. Saint James volunteers donated 355 lbs of fresh produce to the Johnston Partnership in 2025. Johnston Partnership volunteers and staff packed and delivered 7,019 weekend food bags for the Johnston Community School District over the course of the 2025-26 school year. Weekend food ensures that families receive pantry staples each Friday, to help with Saturday and Sunday meals for students.

We couldn't undertake this weekly project without our community partners at Food Bank of Iowa, generous donors, school staff, and amazing volunteers! Thank you.

As we continue to thank our local community gardens, the Johnston School District has several to highlight! The Summit Middle School garden, and Wallace Elementary School Garden have both been generous donors to the food pantry over the years. Between the two schools, students and staff grew and donated over 1,300 lbs of fresh produce in 2025. They also support us in so many other ways. Thank you to Summit and Wallace!
