Update from Nationals!

Advik Bajpai made it all the way to round 8 of extemp debate before being eliminated. Such a great showing by him!

Alan Qi made it all the way to round 7 of extemp debate before being eliminated. Another great showing by him!

Ella Devine did not break to the next round of poetry but was in the top 144 in the nation poetry.

All of the students represented Iowa and Johnston very well and we can’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication!

Update from the speech and debate nationals.

We had 3 individuals make it to Thursday competition!

Ella Devine in poetry! She is top 144 in poetry for the 2nd straight year! Wish her luck in her rounds today!

In extemp debate, you must clear with a 3-1 or 4-0 record in order to move onto the next round and then once you lose 2, you are out. We had 2 individuals who accomplished this.

Currently, Advik Bajpai is 6-0 and will have at least 2 more rounds of debate. He will be competing here shortly in round 7.

Alan Qi is currently 5-1 and will be debating in round 7 here
