Kinda chic to celebrate your local Farmers Market during National Farmers Market Week!

08/04/2026

Happy National Farmers Market Week!

This week is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible work that Market vendors, staff and volunteers do every day that make Farmers Markets so special.

Farmers’ Markets are about so much more than buying groceries. It is a place where people can meet the people who grow their food, raise their livestock, harvest their produce, bake their bread, or create handmade goods.

Those conversations build trust, foster community, and help people better understand where their food and products come from.
The connections you make at a Farmers Market is one of the most valuable parts of a Farmers Market experience.

Update on SNAP guidelines!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Administration (FNA) directed Iowa HHS to return to federal SNAP guidelines, meaning all food items eligible before January 1, 2026, are allowed again. Stores have been instructed to make these changes as soon as possible.

Because the SUN Bucks program was already underway when this update took effect, foods that were previously eligible before the waiver will be allowed under SUN Bucks.
