The National Folk Festival has released its full program for the Mississippi Folklife Area & Stage at the 83rd National Folk Festival in Downtown Jackson in November, and we couldn't be more excited!

From the NFF: "Curated by the Mississippi Arts Commission, the folklife area this year celebrates the ways Mississippi foodways, music, arts, and craft have influenced 250 years of American history and culture. Grits & Greens tour update is out, and yep—Jackson is on the list! They’ll be performing downtown in historic Smith🌳Park on Oct. 1 as part of the Levitt AMP Downtown Jackson Music Series. And it’s FREE! So bring your lawn chairs and your momma and ‘em, and we’ll see you there, 5-8 p.m.! 🎶🎸

PUBLIC NOTICE: REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
FARISH STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT REDEVELOPMENT: PHASE II ACQUISITION AND REDEVELOPMENT OF CERTAIN JRA-OWNED PROPERTIES LOCATED WITHIN THE 200 AND 300 BLOCKS OF NORTH FARISH STREET
The Jackson Redevelopment Authority ("JRA") is soliciting proposals from interested and qualified parties for the acquisition and redevelopment of certain JRA-owned properties located within the 200 and 300 blocks of North Farish Street in the Farish Street Historic District in Downtown Jackson, Mississippi.
Respondents may submit proposals for an individual property or multiple properties identified in the RFP. JRA welcomes redevelopment concepts that advance the revitalization of Farish Street through uses consistent with applicable zoning, historic-preservation requirements, the Farish Street Historic District Design Guidelines, JRA's redevelopment objectives, and the requirements of this solicitation.
The full Request for Proposals will be available beginning August 31, 2026, at www.jrams.org.
DEADLINE FOR RESPONSE:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2026, AT 4PM
All proposals must be received by JRA no later than the deadline stated

Downtown Jackson Partners has unveiled a new mural that commemorates the 200-year-old history of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi for its Alley Gallery art initiative, which seeks to use art to activate underused spaces to help revitalize downtown Jackson.
