Every young person deserves someone who will keep showing up!

It was an honor for Red Door Jackson to join the Mission Mississippi podcast and share more about the work happening through mentoring relationships across Jackson.

In this conversation, our very own, Kelcie Shack talks about the power of faithful presence, the challenges many students are carrying, and why consistent relationships can change the direction of a child’s life.

We’re grateful to Mission Mississippi for the opportunity to share the heart behind Red Door Jackson and the stories that continue to shape this work every day.

Step right up 🎪

Last night was our Red Door Jackson end-of-year carnival, and it was full of joy.

Games, popcorn, snakes, yes, actual snakes, and friends who feel like family. More than that, it was a celebration of a whole semester of students growing and mentors staying consistent.

We’re thankful for every person who helped make it possible!

Red Door Jackson is grateful to celebrate a special milestone in the life of our families.

This season, five Red Door families participated in the Virtuous Family Academy, a five-week virtual experience designed to help families grow from being supportive participants into active, long-term leaders in the mentoring ecosystem.

Virtuous Family Academy exists to meet an important need. When mentoring relationships come to an end, many families who have been deeply invested do not always have a clear next step for continued engagement. This academy helps create that pathway by equipping families with values-based leadership skills, meaningful reflection, and practical action steps so they can continue making an impact beyond their child’s participation in the MLY program.

Over the course of five weeks, families gathered for interactive activities, guided reflection, and intentional conversations centered around five virtues: courage, compassion, justice, humility, and service. Each week created space not only to learn together but to reflect on how these values can shape the way families lead, serve, and love their communities.

One of the most meaningful moments was the culminating Legacy Night celebration at 23:6 Place Downtown. Each family presented a legacy project, something they hope to carry out in their community as a lasting expression of service and leadership. These projects will also be shared across the broader Leadership Foundation network to encourage others.

We are incredibly proud of these families who said yes to this opportunity. Their willingness to grow, lead, and serve is a powerful reminder that mentoring can strengthen and mobilize an entire family.

Please join us in celebrating these families and the legacy they are building.

As this year comes to a close, we pause with gratitude for what God has done through Red Door Jackson. Over the past year, mentors have shown up faithfully, mentees have been encouraged, and families have been supported through steady, consistent relationships. Much of this work happens quietly, but it matters deeply.

Looking ahead to the year to come, there are several ways to continue supporting Red Door Jackson...

- You can pray for mentees, their families, and mentors.
- You can serve by volunteering alongside us.
- You can donate online (reddoorjackson.com/donate) or by mail P.O. Box 4671 Jackson, MS 39296) rto help sustain this work.
- And you can stay connected to upcoming needs and events by joining our newsletter through the link: https://mailchi.mp/dada26692721/rdj-subscribe

Thank you for the ways you have prayed, given, and walked alongside this work. We step into the new year with gratitude for what has been and trust for what is ahead!

That’s a wrap on mentoring for the semester! We finished strong with a cozy Christmas movie night, good snacks, and the kind of laughter that reminds mentees they belong. Nights like this may look simple, but they shape trust, joy, and connection that carry into the new year. Grateful for every mentor and partner who helped make this semester meaningful!

Tuesday nights are where change begins.

Each week, mentors and mentees meet to slow down, connect, and build something lasting. At Red Door Jackson, we see confidence grow, relationships deepen, and hope take root as students step into who they’re meant to be.

We need more male mentors!

Every Tuesday at 5:30 PM, a group of mentors gathers at Fondren Church’s Community Center to invest in the next generation.

Men like Beau have discovered that mentoring doesn’t just change a child’s life, it changes yours, too.

Tomorrow night we kick off a new semester of mentoring at Red Door Jackson!

Every Tuesday night, mentees walk through our doors looking for a place to belong, to be known, and to grow. And every mentor is showing up with open hands, ready to walk with them. That’s where you come in.

Here’s how you can support these life-giving relationships:
• Pray for mentors and mentees as they begin this journey together
• Volunteer with us on Tuesday nights (contact Kelcie at [email protected]).
• Sponsor snacks for mentoring nights—just $60 helps create a welcoming table. https://jacksonleadershipfoundation.kindful.com/?campaign=1144075

When you invest in relationships, you invest in the future of our city!

We believe the next generation of leaders is already among us. They just need someone to invest in them!

The Barnabas Project is a 9-month paid internship for young adults ages 18–24 who feel called to grow in faith, leadership, and community service.

We have 3 spots open for this fall’s cohort. If you know a young adult ready to step into intentional growth and kingdom work, we’d love for them to apply.

Applications are due by July 31 and must include a resume and one reference.
