Yesterday, we hosted our first Culinary Medicine Class (AKA cooking class) at the American Cancer Society Gertrude C. Ford Hope Lodge Jackson!!! During our class, we taught residents the importance of a balanced plate and ways to add to meals rather than focusing on subtracting (or restriction). The product of our class was “create your own” chicken salads, a Southwest chickpea salad, and Ensure Milkshakes! We threw in some extra fruit on the side for color and had plenty of fun in the kitchen!! Thank you to the Hope Lodge for hosting us!! We shall be back soon!

In August, D4HC and some awesome volunteers came together for freezer-meal prep!! We had a blast in the kitchen, and we were so thankful for some new faces and friends! Friday night prep was not pictured (though efforts did not go unnoticed) as we were able to make 430 meals on Saturday! Praise God!! We hope these meals are nourishing to those who receive them! We look forward to our next prep on November 14th. We’d love for you to join us!
