🎨 Art has a unique way of telling stories that words alone sometimes cannot.

The five finalists for the 2026 American Cancer Society Artist of the Year Contest have created deeply personal works inspired by the impact cancer has had on their lives. Each piece represents a journey of hope, loss, resilience, love, and healing, reminding us of the many ways cancer touches individuals and families.

A reminder shared by a colleague inspired the rest of our Hope Lodge team to take a closer look at these incredible artists and their stories, and we didn't want our Hope Lodge Jackson community to miss the opportunity to experience them as well.

We encourage you to take a few moments to view the artwork, read the powerful stories behind each piece, and vote for the one that speaks to you most.

The bell rang.
The room smiled.
Hope filled the room.

There was even more to celebrate at Hope Lodge Jackson last week as we witnessed not one, but two joyful bell ringings.

Each ring of the bell represents a unique journey marked by courage, perseverance, and hope. While every cancer experience is different, these special moments remind us of the strength found in community and the joy that comes from celebrating milestones together.

Surrounded by caregivers, fellow guests, family, and staff, two of our guests marked the completion of treatment and the beginning of a new chapter.

Please join us in celebrating these meaningful milestones and sending continued hope, encouragement, and well wishes for the road ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful yoga instructor for generously volunteering her time, knowledge, and support to lead Chair Yoga for our guests and caregivers at Hope Lodge Jackson.

Chair Yoga offers so many benefits, including gentle stretching, relaxation, stress relief, and overall well-being. Just as importantly, it creates opportunities for connection and community among our guests, caregivers, staff, and volunteers.

Last week's session made a special impact. One participant enjoyed the program so much that he asked for a copy of the movements so he could continue practicing them in the future.

Moments like these remind us that even simple activities can inspire healthier habits, meaningful connections, and hope along the cancer journey.

Share Hope at Hope Lodge Jackson

Recently, Hope Lodge Jackson received a beautiful collection of greeting cards from The Together in Kindness Project. Each card serves as a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can brighten someone's day and bring comfort to someone facing cancer.

We're excited to use these special cards in meaningful ways.

📬 Visitors to Hope Lodge Jackson are invited to write a note of encouragement to one of our guests or caregivers. Whether it's a simple "Thinking of You," a favorite quote, a prayer, or words of hope, a handwritten message may provide comfort exactly when someone needs it most.

👥 We also invite churches, civic groups, businesses, schools, and other small groups to participate. Upon request, Hope Lodge staff will provide a greeting card for individuals or groups to write encouraging messages, and we will then deliver those notes to guests and caregivers during their stay at the Lodge.

Cancer treatment can be physically and emotionally challenging, but a few kind words from a caring stranger can remind someone that they are not alone. Sometimes the most meaningful gift is a handwritten message of kindness.

A heartfelt thank you to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Pharmacy Residency for recently stopping by Hope Lodge Jackson with a generous donation of snacks, paper products, coffee, trash bags, and laundry detergent.

Their thoughtful generosity helps ensure our guests and caregivers have the comforts and necessities they depend on during their stay at Hope Lodge. Every item donated contributes to the warm, welcoming environment that allows families to focus on healing and spend less time worrying about everyday needs.

We are incredibly grateful to the UMMC Pharmacy Residency for their kindness and support. Thank you for helping make Hope Lodge Jackson feel like home for those navigating their cancer journey.
