Mayor John Horhn joined us at River Hills Club for our October member luncheon.

He gave the hour to what it actually takes to move Jackson forward. Clearing blighted property and the legal tangle that keeps so much of it stuck. Getting people off the street and into housing with real support attached. Public safety from both ends, the officers on the street and the root causes behind the calls. Planning the city off hard data instead of instinct. Bringing business and investment back downtown, and the basic upkeep that tells people somebody cares about where they live.

He was candid about what is moving, what is stuck, and where the city still needs help from the people in the room.

Six days out, and here is how Monday runs. The 13th Annual Phoenix Classic is Monday, November 2 at the Country Club of Jackson. Sh***un start at 10:30, four man scramble. Breakfast before the sh***un, lunch on the course, and a closing reception with the awards. Presented by the Applied Underwriters Invitational.

Funds raised at the Classic go to the yearly Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi donation and to the Phoenix Club endowment. It is the whole point of the day.
