Our Executive Director, Dr. Delita Johnson, spent time at the Senior Activity Center this morning presenting an artistic devotional titled "Gardens, Growth, and Sand Buckets." The session encouraged seniors to "beat to their own drum" and served as a reminder that each one of us have artistic space to grow both physically and spiritually. As part of the experience, each participant received a sand bucket, potting soil, sunflower seeds, and drumsticks provided by the Jackson Arts Council. Others received sketch pads and colored pencils.

Our inaugural Make Music Day-Jackson event was a resounding success and thoroughly enjoyable. From church performances to a sand bucket parade, to a drum circle led by Valerie Porter, to performances by Carita Cole and Daniel McClain, and culminating in a grand finale sidewalk dance party hosted by DJ Von, we had a fantastic time.
