SEVEN POUNDS OF PURE HEART-STEALING CHARM! ❤️

Chase's foster mom is completely in love with him, and fully expects ugly tears when he's adopted! 🥹 Tears for missing this amazing, sweet boy, and happy tears for his chance at a wonderful new life and home.

And honestly, we get it!

This darling 5-year-old Maltese/Havanese mix is happy, friendly, affectionate, and convinced that sleeping in bed with his favorite person is one of life's greatest pleasures. Chase loves watching tv and hanging around the house, and he's working up to loving long walks! He's seven pounds of pure companionship!

Chase came to us when young children changed the dynamics of his former home. He wasn't happy with the activity, and some of his care had fallen behind.

But look at him now! ❤️ His skin issues, likely allergy-related, are clearing up beautifully, he's eating well, and he's thriving!

Chase would love a calmer home without young children or rambunctious puppies. He's happy with the adult dogs in his foster home, but puppy antics? No, thank you!

He's neutered and vaccinated, with an upcoming dental, X-rays, possible extractions, and dewclaw removal covered by our rescue. He has some musculoskeletal differences manageable with joint supplements and anti-inflammatories as needed. Year-round flea/tick prevention may help keep his skin healthy.

Chase can be adopted before his procedures if his adopter can provide transportation to our vet in Kirkland.

His foster mom says he'll be awfully hard to give up. We know he'll be awfully easy to love! ❤️

WHO ORDERED THE STRUDEL? 🍎🤍🩶🤎

Dapple Dachshund Mix as sweet as her name and another of our Breakfast Club that arrived last week!

Strudel had one of the most dramatic makeovers of the bunch. We actually thought she had tan/brown legs when she arrived. Nope. That was filth.

Underneath the severe matting was a darling dapple girl who is definitely a Doxie mix — a little taller than your standard Dachshund, but every bit as long!

Her grooming had to be extensive, with latticework-like mats covering her body and her coat shaved nearly to the skin. Understandably, that made an already shy girl a little more cautious about people. She really didn't want to go through THAT again.

But Strudel is exploring her foster home — sometimes under and apparently inside the furniture 😂 — and making friends with the resident Doxies and Lab. She has proven to love both her foster humans, but she's apparently a daddy's girl there!

Give her a little time to settle and you'll discover her other talent: world-class cuddling.

TODAY - WE'RE CHOOSING WAFFLES 🧇

11 months • Dapple Dachshund/Doxie Mix

Dapple anyone? One blue eye and a darling smile — that’s Waffles! He's part of our Breakfast Club of lil sausages that arrived last week!

Originally the most timid of the bunch, his physical makeover was only the beginning. His foster mama calls him Mr. Personality! Now he’s doing zoomies around his foster home with Gravy, happily meeting new people, playing, snuggling and learning just how much fun it is to be a dog.

At Waffles intake exam, his body condition score was 4/9 only due to being a pound or two underweight -otherwise, like the rest of the crew, he is surprisingly in great health! He does also have a conformation issue with his front right leg which is overly exaggeration of the doxy outturned foot. This appears to be conformational only and does not affect his walking, running or playing. Check out his before and after grooming photos to understand why this was difficult to see on intake!

Waffles is scheduled to be neutered and receive his final puppy vaccine on October 22. He can go home before then, but his adopters will need to bring him to our veterinary office in Kirkland for his scheduled appointment and arrange drop-off and pick-up.

Please note, breed experience will be preferred for these pups future adopters. Not only can Dachshunds be a challenging breed with their ancestry trained to hunt badgers underground, these pups had an under socialized environment at their prior home and are working on their house manners as well (which should be improved with his neuter as well).

TODAY’S BREAKFAST MENU IS OFFICIALLY SET. 🥞

Three tiny additions to the Breakfast Club, already making themselves heard when it’s time for a meal, and one very tired Mama Muffin finally done baking, it's been a long few final gestational days - check out the video of the whelping spa/birthing suite she owned - sound on for that treat📣!

Muffin's babies are now out of the oven 🥘and resting up for their future adoptions!

As for exactly what Muffin was baking? The recipe is anybody’s guess. 😂 Are they 100% Doxie? Not likely. Are they 100% yummy? Absolutely. Mama likely has a little Chi (or something) mixed in with those obvious Doxie looks, and Dad could be Link, Gravy or Waffles — or some combination thereof. Whatever the recipe, these babies are definitely heavy on the we**ie! 🌭🤎

These pups and their 2 yrs young Mama, who will be spayed before adoption, will be available for adoption and ready to go home on December 1st. You may submit your applications for Lil Smokey and Benedict now (Mimosa is already pending) but we will not review apps until two weeks prior to the adoption date.

With the December date, please remember: Puppies aren’t presents. They’re family—and a 10–15 year commitment. 🎁🚫

GOOD GRAVY!! 🫓🥣🤎
IT'S TIME TO INTRODUCE THE BREAKFAST CLUB WEENS!!🥞🍳🥓

SWEET AND SAVORY "GRAVY" our stunning little 1½ year old Long-Haired Merle Dachshund.

Stunningly handsome, sweet and cuddly — meet Gravy, part of our group that arrived last Monday.

When he first arrived, Gravy seemed like one of the boldest of the bunch. He would come looking for pets but stay just far enough away that he couldn't be caught — something we commonly see with undersocialized dogs or dogs who haven't always been treated kindly.

What a difference a safe foster home makes.

He’s cleaned up and opening up more every day and now seeks out his foster dad for comfort and cuddles. He runs zoomies with Waffles, loves outside time in the safety of their big fenced yard and has become best friends with Wilson, a Pacific Rim Rescue alum his fosters adopted last year.

Basically, Gravy is discovering the good life — and he likes it.

Gravy had a thorough check up with our veterinarian, his DHLPPC and rabies vaccine and received his microchip. He is scheduled to be neutered and receive his final vaccine on October 22. BE GLAD SOCIAL MEDIA DOESN’T HAVE SCRATCH ’N SNIFF😫
Even our very experienced and well prepared transporter called ahead to ask us to bring extra air freshener to the drop off. That was a first.

Five young, very neglected Dachshunds, about 11 months to 2 years old, joined us this week.

It is apparent they have spent their young lives almost entirely indoors. Their coats were filthy and severely matted, the smell overwhelming with urine-soaked fur and f***s embedded, especially hardened between their toes. Nails had likely NEVER been trimmed causing painful walking and toes turning out. One 11-month-old boy was so badly matted we couldn’t even see his malformed front leg until he was shaved. Another had a horribly painful, sharp piece of plastic wedged sideways between his paw pads, hidden beneath the hardened mess.

Fortunately, their initial medical exams were surprisingly good. And these are happy little dogs. Timid, yes, but sweet, curious and trusting more every hour.

Now they get to discover just how bold, curious and stubborn, how DOXY, they can be.

Normal dog life is new to them, and it’s wonderful to see how quickly they’re already responding. Housetraining, leash walking and all the rest will come—but they’ll learn on their timeline, not ours - or yours.

And then there’s this:
- Five young Dachshunds & doxy mixes.
- None spayed or neutered.
- Two females.
- One very pregnant.
- And frankly, we’re a little surprised both girls weren’t - In this world of neglect and overpopulation, we’ll take that as a blessing.

They’re clean - a HUGE thanks to our groomer PNW SMALL PAWZ LLC who answered our emergency call.

They’re safe. We have the best foster families!

It's a big, new, exciting and a little scary world out there for them right now - but they are happy!

WE’VE BEEN A LITTLE QUIET… THE RESCUE HAS NOT. 😅

Between more puppies and five young adult Dachshunds joining us this week, vet visits and some serious grooming the neglect away, we’ve been a little buried in fur. We’ll introduce everyone in the coming days, but today belongs to India & Co.

BODHI, STELLA & LUCILLE ARE THREE WEEKS OLD! 🐾

Mama India is doing fantastic, and these three are growing SO fast. All eyes are open, we’re starting to see the first tiny teeth, and this coming week they’ll get their first round of dewormer and begin trying some soft food.

We all decided Bodhi and Stella look suspiciously like tiny Coca-Cola polar bears, so ... 🐻‍❄️🥤just look at them. Two little polar bears with a little brown bear squeezed in between.

❤️ You met the Kev who survived. Now meet the Kev who lives here. ❤️

And hey…he's SO GOOD!

Kev has great house manners, loves our dogs and has become a serious cuddler. He's funny, gentle and has blended effortlessly into our already huge canine family.

And before you say, “Then keep him!”—that's how we got four of the dogs already living here. 😆And, honestly, we would if we could!

He crates when needed—grudgingly, because apparently he has opinions now. 😆 The crate is because we have a cat; Kev can be redirected but shows enough interest that we separate them when we're gone.

He's a yard guy, not a long-walks guy. Leashes still make him nervous, and with that injured leg, a securely fenced yard where he can wander, sniff and do the occasional round of zoomies is exactly his speed.

PacRim is seriously in for Kev, just like Zoe and all those before him. He sees the orthopedic surgeon September 30; if surgery can help, we'll do it. If not, his leg will continue to be managed with medication—and Kev is already pretty good at knowing when it's time to rest it.

Hundreds of you felt for Kev when you first met him.

Kev may not look like the dog you envisioned for your family. HE'S BETTER.

Someone is going to get very, very lucky with this devoted guy.

🚨 FIVE dachshunds and dachshund mixes are heading our way, and we need fosters! 🚨

We weren't planning on taking in any more dogs this month, but when a veteran reached out, we said yes without hesitation. He's facing a health-related change and can't take his five dogs with him.

Here's what we know:
🐾 Five dachshunds/dachshund mixes, all 1-2 years old
🐾 Reported to be good with other dogs and cats
🐾 All need spays/neuters ASAP, and we'll take care of it

We're bringing them in soon, so we need foster homes now.

What you provide: a loving, patient home and a short commute to our vet in Kirkland, WA.
What we provide: everything else. Food, supplies, vet care, and support every step of the way.
