We’re absolutely thrilled about MacKenzie Scott donating $84.5 million dollars to Girl Scouts of the USA and 29 of the 110 regional Girl Scout councils across the country. This is the largest gift from an individual donor in Girl Scout history—what a cause for celebration!

While Girl Scouts of Western Washington is not one of the councils who received a portion of this generous gift, we are overjoyed for our sibling councils that will receive this funding and, most importantly, for the nearly 2 million Girl Scout members and volunteers who will directly benefit.

We applaud Ms. Scott for acknowledging the impact of supporting organizations like Girl Scouts that invest in youth, their potential, and the future they’ll create. Before Scott’s generous giving initiative, only 1.6% of annual giving benefitted women and girl-focused organizations. We hope that her example inspires more support, giving even more people access to the life-changing experiences, mentorship opportunities, and impactful programming of Girl Scouts.

Thank you for everything you do to keep Girl Scouts of Western Washington vibrant, essential, and part of our social fabric so young people can grow into the leaders we need. If you’d like to champion local Girl Scouts in the Pacific Northwest, visit our website at girlscoutsww.org/waystosupport to learn about ways to volunteer, donate, or otherwise support our organization.
