More than 140 percussionists. One park. One unforgettable afternoon.
Last November, we brought Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Luther Adams's Inuksuit to life at White River State Park as a free public performance during PASIC50. With Artistic Direction by PAS Hall of Fame member and world-renowned percussionist Steven Schick, performers spread across the park as audiences moved freely through the sound, experiencing the music from every angle.
Inuksuit — named for the stone sentinels built by the Inuit across the Arctic — is a piece that asks us to listen to the world differently. We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate PASIC50.
A special thank you to our guests, the Iñu Yupiaq Dance Group from the University of Alaska, and to the organizing team led by Megan Arns, with Thad Anderson, Omar Carmenates, Maria Finkelmeier, Amy Garapic, Scott Herring, Doug Perkins, and Bonnie Whiting.
This special performance was made possible with support from Indy Arts Council and the City of Indianapolis.
