This is a job well done by a great cast of planners, engineers, contractors, suppliers and inspectors! Take a look at the newly rebuilt runway 5R-23L… designed for a 40 year service life. Congratulations to Indianapolis Airport Authority, Circle City Partners, Milestone Contractors, LP, and a host of stakeholders and contributors to this great achievement!

The runway is clear! 🛫 After 3 years, Runway 5R-23L & Taxiway D have reopened, built with enough concrete to pave a highway from Indy to Terre Haute. Huge thanks to our 35+ community partners for helping make this project a reality, benefiting our region for decades!

The ACPA marketing campaign, "Concrete Pavement's Role in a Sustainable, Resilient Future," won a platinum Hermes Creative Award in the category "Strategic Integrated Marketing Campaigns." Its foundation was the white paper, “Concrete Pavement’s Role in a Sustainable, Resilient Future,” announced last year at World of Concrete. Indiana Chapter - American Concrete Pavement Association and Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association joined IMAA, Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana - APAI and INDOT for a series of three regional pre-season meetings during the past week providing updates to personnel from all groups for the upcoming construction season. It has been a busy winter of meetings and workshops and we look forward to getting out on the grade to continue improvements the state and local transportation network. Please stay safe out there everybody!

Description: Many issues related to construction can be alleviated by a fundamental understanding of the basics of concrete. This starts with knowledge of the standard components of a concrete mixture including cementitious materials, aggregates, water, and admixtures and their importance on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. The combination of these materials in various proportions can produce mixtures suitable for a wide range of applications and placement methods. Once placed, the concrete must be properly cured to develop its intended properties. This presentation introduces the basics of concrete and describes its importance and application as a construction material.
