Today on the steps of Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis, labor Unions and allies came together to recognize May Day and stand up for what working people deserve. This wasn’t just a gathering. It was a clear show of unity around the core values of labor. The right to earn a living wage. Access to affordable healthcare. The ability to retire with dignity. And the ongoing fight to repeal so-called “right to work” laws that have done nothing but weaken workers and drive down standards.
Over a dozen unions stood shoulder to shoulder, proving that solidarity is not just a word. It’s action. It was powerful to spend time with other working-class folks, hearing real stories, sharing real struggles, and reminding each other that the fight is far from over. But days like today make one thing clear. When we stand together, we are stronger, louder, and a whole lot harder to ignore.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our Brother, Don Reed.
Don was the kind of man who made people feel seen, heard, and valued. He dedicated so much of his life to standing up for others, serving on the Board of the Marion County CAP Council, the Executive Board of UAW Local 933, and as Chairman of the Local 933 Retirees Chapter. He believed deeply in the labor movement and in the power of people coming together, and he lived that belief every single day.
But more than the titles, Don will be remembered for who he was. He had a genuine kindness about him. Always a smile. Always a kind word. Always willing to take a moment for someone who needed it. He had a caring heart and a love for people from all walks of life, and you could feel that the minute you were around him.
If something was happening in the community, Don was there. Supporting a cause, helping others, or standing up for working people. He didn’t just talk about Solidarity, he lived it.
He passed peacefully on Thursday. There is comfort in knowing that, but it doesn’t make the loss any easier. He meant a lot to many people, and he will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on April 3rd, with visitation from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and service at 6:00 PM at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel.
Rest in peace, brother Don. Your kindness, your strength, and your spirit will stay with all of us.

Senator J.D. Ford brought a strong message of hope, courage, and unity while speaking at UAW Local 933’s Civil and Human Rights Banquet. A great night with a message that still hits where it counts. Senator Ford represents Indiana Senate District 29..

The Civil and Human Rights Banquet was a powerful reminder that every person carries a story of struggle, and it is often those struggles that shape our strength, courage, and resilience. When we recognize that our experiences may be different but our humanity is shared, we begin to understand the true power of unity. The fight for civil and human rights has never been easy, but progress has always come from people who refused to stay silent and chose to stand together. When we lift each other up, support one another, and refuse to let anyone stand alone, struggle transforms into strength, and unity becomes the force that moves communities forward.
