SPJ honors Bloomberg News staff with this year’s New America Award for “Immigration, Inc.,” its investigative series examining the economic and human consequences of expanded U.S. immigration enforcement. This year’s award recognizes journalism published or broadcast in 2025.

The New America Award honors outstanding public service journalism that informs the public, amplifies underrepresented voices and advances understanding of issues affecting diverse communities.

“Immigration, Inc.” examines economic, political and humanitarian consequences of expanded U.S. immigration enforcement and related labor and migration pressures. The series shows how detention systems, workplace raids and border enforcement ripple across industries, communities and migration routes.

The award will be presented at the Society Reception at SPJ26, SPJ’s annual convention, Oct. 1-4 in Columbus, Ohio.
