🎤 Laughter, community, and a great cause! 💜

A HUGE thank you to for hosting Saturday's Pink Poodle Comedy Night at Sinners and Saints Indy, with proceeds benefiting GenderNexus!

We're grateful to the talented comedians who shared the stage, everyone who came out to support the show, and the organizers who made it all happen.

Events like this do more than bring people together for a good laugh. They celebrate q***r voices, create space for community and help GenderNexus continue supporting gender-diverse Hoosiers and their loved ones.

What does it mean for care to be affirming?

Affirming care starts with something everyone deserves: to be listened to, respected and treated as a whole person.

For gender-diverse people, that means access to healthcare and support that respects their identity, responds to their individual needs and gives them the information they need to make decisions about their own well-being.

Parents and caregivers: You don’t have to navigate every question on your own. 💜

GenderNexus’s free Parent/Caregiver Support Group begins Monday, October 19 at 7 p.m. and meets via Zoom for seven weeks.

Over the course of the group, we’ll create space for honest conversations about:
• Understanding gender
• Confronting fear and leaning into grief
• Understanding medical interventions
• Navigating the legal system
• Creating safe spaces in schools
• Exploring steps toward religious reconciliation

This group is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, connect with other parents and caregivers, and find support in a welcoming environment.

"Transition."

You may hear the word transition used in different ways—and that’s because there is no single way to transition.

Transition can refer to the process of making social, legal and/or medical changes that allow someone to live more fully as their authentic self. Those changes look different for every person. Some people may change their name or pronouns, update legal documents or pursue medical care. Others may choose only some of those changes—or none at all.

Understanding the word means understanding that transition is personal, and no two journeys look exactly the same.

Learn about GEKCO (Gender Expansive Kids & Co.) 👇

GEKCO Gender Expansive Kids and Company is a confidential, peer-led support group that connects families of gender-diverse children with one another and with trusted resources. GEKCO focuses on families with children younger than 15 to create a safe, supportive community where families can learn and grow together.

GEKCO refers parents to GenderNexus for our Parent & Caregiver Support Group and assistance navigating schools and other systems, while GenderNexus connects families to GEKCO for ongoing peer support and community. Our partnership reflects a shared belief that no family should navigate this journey alone.

Together, we help ensure families have access to both professional guidance and lasting peer connections—from childhood through adulthood. 🌈

Words matter. Especially the words we use to describe ourselves and one another.

We’re launching a new series called "Words We Use" to explain some of the language you may hear at GenderNexus and across the gender-diverse community.

We’re starting with "gender-diverse", a broad and inclusive term that encompasses many different gender identities and experiences.

Why do we use it? Because no single identity or experience represents everyone who comes through our doors. “Gender-diverse” gives us a way to speak broadly about the community we serve while recognizing the many identities within it.

Language continues to evolve, and we’re committed to using words that communicate dignity and respect.
