IYG - Empowering Queer Young People IYG serves young people (12-24) who identify as LGBTQ+ and their peer allies. Empowering queer young people and inspiring younger generations since 1987.

IYG is the longest continuously operating queer youth organization in North America. IYG serves young people ages 12-24 who self-identify as LGBTQ+, as well as their allies. All programs and services are offered free of charge. IYG strives to provide safer spaces to build self-confidence, explore individualism, and develop friendships within the LGBTQ+ community. IYG promotes a space of acceptance

, equity, and restorative practices. We also advocate for queer youth in schools, the community and through family support services.

Are you an LGBTQIA+ affirming and Black hair competent barber, braider, loctician, or esthetician? Consider volunteering your time to provide your services to IYG's young adults! IYG needs your help to serve our young adults ages 18-24. 💜💇

Many of our young adults experience homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, violence, and discrimination, leaving them without the means to maintain their hair. Invest in the future of the LGBTQIA+ community today!💜
