Card #14 | Your Highlight Reel

Nerves shrink your game. Memory expands it.
Before kickoff, close your eyes. Two minutes.
Replay three moments you played your best.
Feel it again—the speed, the contact, the certainty.
Your brain can’t tell the difference between living it and reliving it.
Vivid rehearsal fires the same circuits as the real thing.
So remind yourself who you are when you’re at your best.
That player is still in there.
Close your eyes. Press play. Then go be them.

Rugby Indiana’s 2026 Spring Season Tournament is in the books, and what a championship weekend it was.

First, a huge congratulations to our Spring Season champions and runners-up in every division. Your skill, resilience, and commitment across a long season led to some incredible finals rugby, and you should be proud of what you achieved.

At the same time, this season has never been only about trophies. It is a celebration of every team that took the field, every player who trained in all kinds of weather, and every program that chose to live rugby’s core values of integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect.

To our coaches and team leaders, thank you for teaching the game while also building character and community for Indiana’s young people. To the volunteers and administrators who handled registrations, game-day logistics, and all the behind-the-scenes work – your efforts made the entire Spring Season possible.

A special thank you to our referees and match officials, whose professionalism and consistency keep the game safe, fair, and true to rugby’s spirit every weekend. And to the parents and families who drove countless miles, rearranged schedules, and filled the sidelines with positive support all season long, your commitment is at the heart of youth rugby in Indiana.

We also want to recognize and thank our sponsors, whose partnership helps make these opportunities possible for our athletes season after season. In particular, we are grateful for Gatorade’s support over more than 13 years, helping us keep Indiana’s rugby community fueled and ready to perform.

As we wrap up the 2026 Spring Season, we’re reminded that rugby in Indiana is about more than scores and standings. It’s about a community coming together to help youth thrive, on and off the pitch, through a sport grounded in values.

Thank you to everyone who made this Spring Season Tournament unforgettable. We can’t wait to see you back on the pitch again soon.

Jocelyn Malmstrom - longtime coach of the Penn Girls / Lady Kingsmen Rugby program and a former Rugby Indiana board member - is raising funds for spinal cord surgery after insurance denials. She’s poured years into developing players and growing the game in our community. Now she needs our help.

If you can donate, share, or both, it all matters. Every bit gets her closer.
