Theo deserves a chance. And we’re determined to give him one. ❤️

At just three years old, Theo should be chasing tennis balls and curled up beside his favorite person. Instead, this sweet Golden Retriever mix was found wandering the streets, underweight, filthy, and struggling with a condition we later learned was caused by an old car accident.

Today, Theo is safe with Luna Farms Rescue. We’re helping him heal, exploring ways to manage his incontinence, and working to give him the comfortable, happy life he deserves. His journey won’t be simple, and his care will require extra time, patience, and ongoing support. But when we look at Theo, we don’t see a burden. We see a dog worth fighting for. 🐶

This is what rescue looks like: showing up for the dogs who need a little more, finding solutions when the answers aren’t easy, and believing every life is worth the effort.

We can’t do it alone. Every donation, share, foster, and adoption application helps us continue showing up for dogs like Theo. And somewhere out there, we hope there’s a family ready to love this special boy exactly as he is.

📖 Want to be part of Theo’s next chapter? Consider donating toward his care, sharing his story, or applying to adopt him through Luna Farms Rescue. Together, we can help him find the future he deserves.

When Lynard first came to Luna Farms Rescue, we thought we were helping a senior dog. But with medical care, patience, and love, he’s practically aging in reverse! 🐾

Our vet now believes Lynard is only 2–3 years old. He’s gained 20 pounds, his skin is healing, and his beautiful coat is growing back. At around 80 pounds, this well-mannered, house-trained sweetheart is good with people and other dogs. Now fully vetted, he’s ready for a forever home where he can continue to thrive! 🐶

Behind transformations like Lynard’s are real resources, time, and hands-on care. Our founder, Stephanie, is currently fostering Lynard and two other dogs with significant medical needs. We’re grateful to give them the care they deserve, but until they find homes, our ability to help other dogs is limited.

YOU CAN HELP CHANGE THAT. 🏡

🐾 Adopt Lynard and give him the future he deserves.
❤️ Foster or volunteer to help us open space for another dog.
🚐 Transport or donate to keep lifesaving care moving.
📲 Share this post to help Lynard find his family!

Every share, donation, and helping hand makes room for another dog in need. Help us turn Lynard’s second chance into the beginning of another.

MEET POSSUM 💔 A LITTLE LIFE WORTH FIGHTING FOR.

Possum should be chasing toys and growing into a happy, healthy puppy. Instead, he was found starving, covered in painful sores, and missing most of his fur. His malnutrition was so severe that even his bones were affected.

When the shelter called, we had no foster home lined up and no clear plan for how we’d cover his medical care. But Possum needed help, and we couldn’t look away. ❤️

Today, our volunteers are tending to his fragile skin, making sure he’s fed, comfortable, and surrounded by love. His recovery will take time, ongoing care, and resources. But he’s finally getting the chance every puppy deserves.

This is what rescue looks like: showing up when a life needs us, even when we don’t have all the answers. And we can’t do it alone.

Your donations help provide the veterinary care, supplies, and daily necessities that make recoveries like Possum’s possible. Every contribution helps us keep showing up for the next animal who needs us.

👉🏻 Donate to Possum’s recovery: https://www.lunafarmsrescue.org/

📲 You can also donate directly toward his care at Westside Veterinary Hospital: (256) 586-2561.

Possum’s past may be painful, but with your help, his future can be full of everything a puppy should know: safety, comfort, and love.

As we wrap up our first-ever Namaste Day, our hearts are full of gratitude. ❤️

To every pet parent who applied, showed up, and trusted us with their beloved pets’ care: THANK YOU!

For being part of this mission. Seeing your pets safely reunited with you, and knowing you can move forward with peace of mind, reminded us exactly why this work matters.

We know we couldn’t reach everyone who applied, and the families still waiting weigh heavily on our hearts. We hear you, and we’re committed to continuing the work to meet the overwhelming need for accessible spay and neuter services.

To our participating pet parents and every partner who made this day possible, thank you for helping us take a step toward healthier pets and fewer unwanted litters. This is just the beginning. 🐶🐱

2-4-6-8… WHO DO WE APPRECIATE?! ❤️🐾

Our incredible volunteers who gave up their Saturday to make Namaste Day possible! When we call your name, please stand and take a bow.

✨ Laura Caldwell
✨ Stephanie Jordan
✨ Sarah Bowen
✨ Katalina-Marie Kruszewski

These ladies stepped into every role imaginable — processing applications, signing families in, helping with forms, photographing the day, supporting our behind-the-scenes social media, delivering lunch, assisting the Westside Veterinary Hospital team, carrying pets in and out throughout the day, answering questions, and comforting nervous pets (and their people!) along the way. 🐶🐱

And this is just one day of what our volunteers do. Day after day, they give their time, energy, compassion, and hearts to help Luna Farms Rescue serve our community.

Because of these incredible women and everyone who helped make Namaste Day happen, 56 pets will never produce unwanted litters. That means 56 lives—and countless future lives—changed for the better. 🥹

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give these ladies a HUGE round of applause! 👏👏👏

A COMMUNITY THAT SHOWS UP 🤗

Namaste Day started at 6 AM for many of our volunteers and didn’t wrap up until around 6 PM. It was a long day, but an incredibly worthwhile and productive one.

Our volunteers showed up and showed out, giving their time, energy, and Saturday to support something they’re passionate about: spay & neuter and a better future for the animals in our community.

And these incredible people don’t just show up for Namaste Day. They are in the trenches, showing up for animals across North Alabama day after day. There truly is no way we could ever repay them for all they do.

When we reached out to Taco MaMa in Jones Valley to ask if they could help feed our volunteers, they immediately jumped at the opportunity to support our mission.

To our volunteers, it may have been “just a meal.” To us, it was so much more. It was a reminder that our community sees the work being done and that local businesses are willing to stand beside us as we work to improve the quality of life for animals across North Alabama.

Thank you, Taco MaMa, for taking care of us while we took care of our community’s animals. ❤️

And to every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to Namaste Day: thank you will never be enough. 🐶🐱

NAMASTE DAY 2026 | A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

Namaste Day may have taken place on October 3rd, but making this life-changing day possible began long before we gathered at the clinic.

After receiving the incredible news that Luna Farms Rescue had been awarded a Namaste Day Grant, we immediately reached out to one of North Alabama’s best veterinary practices, Westside Veterinary Hospital. Without hesitation, Dr. Lauren Ellenburg said, “Let’s do it!” ❤️

Namaste Day would not have been possible without Dr. Lauren, her father Dr. Tom Ellenburg, and the entire Westside Veterinary Hospital team. They graciously opened their doors on a Saturday and altered 26 dogs and 30 cats. 56 beloved pets who now have a greater chance at a healthier future without contributing to the cycle of unwanted litters.

We are incredibly grateful to Westside Veterinary Hospital for partnering with us and putting these animals in such caring, capable hands. The impact of this day will reach far beyond October 3rd. 🐾

Please join us in thanking the entire Westside team for helping make Namaste Day possible! ❤️

As we begin to process the impact of Namaste Day, one thing keeps coming back to us: the people we met yesterday wanted to do the right thing for their pets. They just needed the opportunity.

Throughout the day, we heard the same sentiments again and again:

🐾 “This is a great opportunity to get my male cat fixed without the high cost. I’m happy he won’t be contributing to more kittens being born in the neighborhood.”

🐾 “I am so thankful for this opportunity. My cat keeps having kittens because we can’t afford to have her fixed.”

And one sentiment put the bigger picture into perspective:

“Spay and neuter is #1 to try to get the pet population under control. The fact almost 1,000 pets were registered tells you people want to spay and neuter their pets, but either they don’t have the financial means or they don’t know how to access the services. We have to educate people.”

We heard:

✨ “When rescue organizations, shelters, veterinarians, volunteers, donors, and pet owners work together, change happens.”

✨ “This is such a wonderful and amazing blessing.”

The #1 word we heard from our veterinary staff and volunteers was “hopeful.”

The words we heard most from pet owners were “grateful” and “thankful.”

That is Namaste Day.
People. Pets. Prevention. Education. Community. Hope.

Because when barriers are removed, people show up.

And yesterday, 56 lives were altered.

56 pets who will not contribute to unwanted litters.
56 families who were given an opportunity they may not otherwise have had.
56 steps toward a community where fewer animals enter shelters and rescues simply because there are not enough homes.

And this is only possible because so many people chose to come together.

A heartfelt thank you to Jason Heigl Foundation and Westside Veterinary Hospital, along with every veterinarian, veterinary staff member, volunteer, donor, applicant, pet owner, and supporter who helped make Namaste Day possible.

This is what community looks like. This is what hope looks like. And this is how change begins. ❤️‍🩹

NAMASTE DAY IS HERE 🎉

Our alarms went off before sunrise this morning as we prepared for a long, exhausting, but incredibly meaningful day.

Because spending a day preventing pet overpopulation is better than spending a lifetime dealing with its aftermath.

Today, 55 animals will be spayed or neutered through Namaste Day (huge thanks to Jason Heigl Foundation) meaning 55 animals who will not contribute to another generation of unwanted litters in already overwhelmed rural communities.

As we celebrate that, we’re thinking about four incredible dogs who left on transport yesterday. Dogs who never had the opportunity to be protected from overbreeding.

🐶 Calliope lost her home when her person lost their housing. Confused at the shelter, someone described her perfectly: “This girl just wants to be loved.”

🐶 Honey Bun was found as a stray. She loves cuddling, following you around, and claiming your sofa and bed. Despite her wonderful temperament, she was repeatedly overlooked.

🐶 Faith was surrendered with more than 60 other dogs from the same property. She went from acres to roam to a concrete kennel, where she waited for six months. Being a larger dog made finding placement even harder.

🐶 Hope was brought to a veterinary clinic by her owners to be euthanized at less than a year old because they “did not have time” for her. The veterinarian refused and reached out to rescue.

What did they have in common?

They were unwanted and had little chance of being adopted in an overcrowded Alabama shelter system.

But they were also loving, deserving dogs.

Thankfully, one of our northern rescue partners saw that.

After being spayed, Calliope, Faith, Honey Bun, and Hope headed to Vermont, where adopters are eagerly awaiting them.

This time, they were chosen for who they are. Not what they could produce.

Thanks to Vermont English Bulldog Rescue, these four girls get to say:

“I made it.” ❤️

Every spay and neuter means one less unwanted litter, one less overbred momma, and fewer dogs entering shelters with nowhere to go.

Break the cycle. Spay and neuter your pets.

NAMASTE DAY UPDATE — PLEASE READ ‼️

We’ve received many messages from applicants wondering whether they were selected for our October 3rd community spay & neuter clinic. We know waiting for an answer can be frustrating, so here’s the update:

📩 Received an appointment confirmation? You have a spot!

If you did not receive a confirmation, unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate your pet during this event. We received far more applications than the number of appointments available and we know that can be incredibly disappointing. ❤️

Please don’t give up.

We’re keeping the information from applicants we couldn’t accommodate so we can better understand the need in our community and hopefully reach out about future opportunities when possible.

💡 Still looking for an option?

If you weren’t able to receive an appointment through Namaste Day, please consider checking with:
🐾 Local veterinary clinics
🐾 Low-cost spay/neuter programs
🐾 Local animal shelters and humane organizations
🐾 Veterinary schools or community veterinary programs
🐾 Pet-assistance organizations that may offer financial help

231 applications representing 900+ individual pets made one thing abundantly clear: the need in our community is HUGE.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for caring enough to get your pets altered. We hope to help more families in the future. ❤️

Spay. Neuter. Prevent. Protect. Repeat. 🐶🐱
