We proudly celebrate and congratulate our newest graduates of the Christian Discipleship Program.
These men came broken, searching for hope and direction, and through the grace of God, hard work, obedience, and faith, they are leaving restored, renewed, and reunited with their families. Their lives are living testimonies that Jesus Christ still changes lives and makes all things new.

We are honored to walk alongside them in this journey and cannot wait to see what God continues to do in their future. Congratulations, graduates — your victory is a testimony of redemption, restoration, and God’s unfailing love.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Epistle to the Galatians 2:

Redemption by Grace would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Mary and Aaron Smith for preparing a wonderful baked spaghetti dinner for our men’s program tonight. Your kindness and generosity truly made a difference.

We’re also grateful for Dakota Taylor, who led an impactful Bible study that encouraged and strengthened the men in their walk.
A special shoutout to two of our alumni, James Mead and Dave Marcum, for stepping up to run our weekly community meeting—addressing house matters and reinforcing the importance of accountability.

It’s through service, leadership, and fellowship like this that lives continue to be changed. Thank you to everyone who played a part tonight!

My Testimony of Addiction and Recovery

I began using drugs at a very young age, not fully understanding the path I was stepping onto. What started as something that felt temporary quickly became a powerful force that took control of my life. Addiction led me to places I never imagined I would go—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It stripped away my sense of identity, distorted my values, and ultimately cost me everything that once mattered most.

Over time, I lost not only material things, but also the deeper connections in my life. I lost my sense of self, my peace, and the trust and closeness of my family and children. The weight of those losses was overwhelming, and for a long time, I felt trapped in a cycle I did not know how to break.

However, my story does not end there.

Today, I stand in recovery. Through perseverance, support, and faith, I have found strength I did not know I possessed. Recovery has not been easy, but it has been worth every step. I am learning to rebuild what was broken, restore relationships, and rediscover who I truly am. Each day is a reminder that change is possible and that healing is real.

One scripture that continues to guide and encourage me is:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." — 2 Corinthians 5:17

This verse reminds me that my past does not define me. I am not the person I once was, and I am not bound by the mistakes I have made. I am being renewed daily, walking forward with purpose, strength, and hope.

Today, I choose recovery. I choose growth. And most importantly, I choose life.

Redemption by Grace had a wonderful time in community this evening. We were blessed to have Rick Morris lead his weekly Bible study, and Mr. Spradling stopped by and cooked an amazing meal for the guys. He served fried trout, green beans, coleslaw, and a freshly baked chocolate cake.

We truly enjoyed a powerful evening filled with God’s presence, fellowship, and gratitude.

My name is Liz, and I am a recovering addict. I grew up in a broken home where both of my parents struggled with severe alcoholism. From a young age, I swore I would never become like them. However, after a failed marriage and losing custody of all four of my children, I experienced a mental breakdown that led me to begin using fentanyl at the age of 26. My addiction lasted over eight years and during that time I became the worst version of myself — lost mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, with no will left to live.

After years of overdoses and repeated incarcerations, I cried out to God to take everything from me because I could no longer live on my own will. One week later, I was incarcerated for ten months, later bonding out to home confinement. At sentencing, I was deferred to probation. Without treatment, I failed repeatedly until my probation officer forced me into treatment — a decision that saved my life.

My clean date is November 9, 2023.

Through treatment, my mind began to clear from years of drug abuse, and I was able to redevelop a relationship with God, my Higher Power. Through God, Alcoholics Anonymous, rigorous 12-step work with my sponsor, and maintaining steady employment, I now have over two years of sobriety.

Today, I work in the recovery field, connecting individuals to recovery capital resources and treatment programs. I am also the new female director of Redemption By Grace, a faith-based women’s sober living program. I believe it is my God-given purpose to help lead those who are lost — just as I once was — to a God who can heal and restore lives.

50 years old. I began using drugs and alcohol at the age of 12 to cover pain and feelings I didn’t know how to face. Addiction took me in and out of treatment for many years, and I learned the hard way that I was powerless on my own.

Everything changed when I surrendered my life to God. When I stopped trying to control everything and trusted Him, He gave me a new way to live. My sobriety date is 04/10/2023, and I am sober today only by the grace of God.

I work an AA program, where I am reminded daily to rely on God, live honestly, and help others. I am also active in my church, growing in faith and learning to walk in God’s will one day at a time.

The verse that carries me is Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Today, that hope is real in my life. I try to help the next person daily, grateful that God turned my brokenness into purpose—one day at a time.
