Healing Trauma is not about growing your church | Dr. Hannah Sutton-Adams

Today we celebrate All Saints Day 🕯️

In many congregations across the Western North Carolina Conference, candles are lit and names spoken aloud for those who have gone before us: the saints who shaped our faith, served our communities, and showed us what it looks like to follow Jesus.

As we remember them, we give thanks for the great cloud of witnesses that still surrounds us (Hebrews 12:1). 🙏

Happy Halloween from the Western North Carolina Conference! 🎃🍂

We hope all of the Trunk-or-Treats across our conference were a blast! 🍬 Thank you for opening your parking lots and your hearts to your neighbors, and for being churches where every visitor is met with a warm welcome. 🧡

Wishing everyone a fun and safe evening!

🌅 Start 2027 with renewal on the Georgia coast!

The Southern Lights Conference returns January 22–24, 2027 at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island, GA. This year’s theme is “In the Aftermath: How Do We Live?”

Clergy and laity are invited to wrestle honestly with what it means to follow Jesus in a season of division and uncertainty: how we pick up the pieces, chart a new course, reimagine worship, and discern where God is calling us next.

🎤 Led by Diana Butler Bass and Brian McLaren, with Kristin Du Mez, Carlos Rodríguez, and music by Mark A. Miller

📍 Held at the Methodist retreat center named for the Wesleys’ birthplace, or join virtually from home

This year’s theme, “Holston—On the Frontier of Methodism for over 200 Years,” brought a tour of the former Morristown College site, plus presentations on early women clergy, historic African-American congregations and EUB heritage.

Congratulations to Sandrea Williamson and Jim Pyatt, re-elected as SEJHS secretary and treasurer, and to Arnetta Beverly, newly elected to the executive committee! 🎉
