Sunday, 10/11: Smither Park Sunday Returns!
Join us at the park for a local vendor market, free craft activities, mosaics, and live music by Breaking Light, the experimental project of Fort Worth guitarist Kavin Allenson. Running electric guitar through layers of loops, delays, and effects, Allenson creates ethereal, orchestral soundscapes that can shift from composed to completely improvised.

We're also thrilled to welcome experimental guitarist Sandy Ewen underneath the Lindley Fish Amphitheater. Not your typical guitarist, Ewen plays her instrument "in a manner more akin to how a painter approaches colors and a canvas" (credit: Free Press Houston).

Hey, Houston! The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art is thrilled to be part of this year's Untitled Art Houston alongside our friends Zine Fest Houston!

Untitled brings together artists, galleries, institutions, and art lovers from across Houston and beyond. We’re excited to join the conversation again, make new connections, and celebrate the city's eclectic art scene.

We’ll have our archival material on display alongside the full Zine Library Houston collection and more, all as part of the thoughtfully curated Artist Market brought together by Adam Marnie of F Magazine.

Come find us at Booth M! at the George R. Brown Convention Center, say hi to Cody, who will be here all day, and spend some time exploring all the art at Untitled Air Fair Houston, October 1-4, 2026.

Susan Venus, beloved hair stylist, friend, artist, and a participant in the Houston Art Car Parade since at least 2001 with her signature "Cadillac Hairse", died unexpectedly on Wednesday.

Her Venus Hair Salon, a fixture on 19th Street in the Heights since 1978, served as a social hub for the neighboring community and was a visionary art environment itself, layered heavily with artwork, photographs, and other ephemera, serving generations of clients, including dozens from the assisted living center next door.

Susan, we’ll miss you and countless days full of love and hairspray.

This Saturday, Bob Log III is bringing his slide guitar, kick drum, telephone-mounted motorcycle helmet, and signature musical mayhem to the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
