Visionary art has always been shaped by creatives who see the world differently. The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art is proud to carry that belief forward through the Neurodiverse Art Studio, created in partnership with Houston Community College's award-winning VAST Academy.

Together, we're building a space where neurodivergent artists can develop their artistic vision, connect with a creative community, and share their work on their own terms. It's one of the ways we're working to celebrate the artist in everyone while making Houston's art community more inclusive.

Smither Park turns 10, and we're inviting our creative community to celebrate with us!

We're kicking off a season of festivities with a two-day festival on September 19-20, followed by expanded Smither Park Sundays through the fall. These free community events feature live music, Art Cars, performance art, an artist market, activities for all ages, and opportunities to experience what made Smither Park a Houston favorite for the past decade.

The Orange Show is looking for creative partners to help bring these events to life, including:

🍊 Performance artists
🍊 Pop-up art installations + interactive projects
🍊 Nonprofits
🍊 Community organizations
🍊 Brands with engaging community activations

Join us for our first Artist Trading Card Meetup on Thursday, August 27, 5pm - 7pm!

Create a one-of-a-kind work of art the size of a playing card, trade it with fellow artists, and learn more about this global tradition inspired by Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann.

Anyone can participate, and all media are allowed: drawing, painting, collage, found objects... only the size is fixed.

Bring a friend, grab a drink, make some art, and start trading.
This free meetup happens on the final Thursday of every month.

We are seeking original artwork for the Orange Show's 40th Annual Houston Art Car Parade, happening Saturday, April 10, 2027!

Artists of all ages and experience levels are invited to submit their unique vision celebrating this milestone, marking four decades of the world's largest celebration of Art Cars. Selected designs may be featured on official posters, merchandise, signage, digital campaigns, and more, with selected artists receiving an honorarium.

The submission deadline is Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:59pm CT.

For nearly fifty years, the Orange Show Monument has inspired Houston’s creative community. Constantly exposed to the Gulf Coast’s harsh climate, the Monument has survived thanks to hundreds of staff, artists, and volunteers.

Want to get involved? Join our Conservation Corps, a conservator-guided volunteer program where dedicated people meet monthly to learn about this beloved art space and help maintain it.

This is a free, walk-in opportunity.
