SERJobs serves over 6,000 people annually throughout a 13-county region with offices in Harris, Fort Bend, and Galveston Counties and offers tailored services for youth/young adults (16-24), adults 25+ who are veterans, re-entry, women, families, and individuals. Enjoy fresh produce, pantry staples, and more, all at no cost. 🥦🍎

Planning to join us? Register ahead of time! Registered participants will be among the first in line to receive groceries, so we highly encourage signing up in advance to help make your visit as smooth as possible.

Walk-ins are welcome, too! If you’re unable to register ahead of time, you are still welcome to receive food assistance. However, you will be served as a walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.

While others talk about opportunity, Dr. Frances Villagran-Glover gives communities the tools to build it!

Congratulations to our board member, Dr. Villagran-Glover, on being named a 2026 Women Who Mean Business honoree by the Houston Business Journal! 🎉

As president of Houston City College Southeast Campus, she opens doors for students across Houston’s East End every day. She’s brought that same energy to SERJobs since joining our Board of Directors in 2023.

Most recently, she served as co-chair of our 2026 Constructing Opportunity Luncheon, and her hard work helped make it a huge success!

Every origin story has a door in it. Ours was half shut.

In the 1940s, Mexican American veterans came home from war and were turned away from jobs, schools, and housing. In 1964, LULAC and the American GI Forum pooled their resources to change that. In 1965, the first Jobs for Progress Center opened inside the LULAC Council 60 Clubhouse at 3004 Bagby Street.

Sixty-one years later, our doors are open to anyone ready to walk through them.

Shaquita, a 2025 SERJobs Banking Program graduate, turned her training into a new career with CenterPoint Energy.

After completing the program, Shaquita was able to take the next step toward a rewarding career as a Gas Service Technician. Her story is a great example of how training, support, and determination can open the door to new opportunities.

Today, we welcomed CenterPoint Energy to our WRTC building!

CenterPoint Talent Acquisition Manager, Tyler Heallen, toured our facility to see firsthand where our members train and hone their skills in the growing world of skilled trades.

The visit is part of a partnership we're exploring to open doors to CenterPoint careers for our members and trainees.

Our promise is simple: when CenterPoint is ready to hire, we'll bring them pre-qualified, pre-screened, certified candidates ready to work!

Celebrating Leadership, Empowering Women, and Building a Stronger Houston!

Last Thursday, the SERJobs team had the privilege of attending the 2026 Built by Ella – LUNA Awards, presented by the Regional Hispanic Construction Association (RHCA) a special celebration honoring the women, businesses, and advocates making a lasting impact in Houston’s architecture, engineering, and construction industries.

Our CEO, Liliana Rambo; Board of Directors Chair, Daniel Saenz; and Board Secretary, Eric Cruz, joined members of the SERJobs team for an inspiring day filled with powerful stories, meaningful conversations, and opportunities to connect with leaders who are shaping the future of our community.

A special congratulations to Jerrad Jefferson, Business Advocate of the Year; Danielle Hardy, Lifetime Achievement honoree; and Elvia Quintanilla, A/E/C Woman of the Year, as well as all the nominees and awardees whose leadership, dedication, and accomplishments continue to inspire others.

We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented professional to support our immigration and citizenship services by assisting clients, preparing legal documents, coordinating outreach, and providing bilingual support in English and Spanish.

Qualified candidates must have a paralegal certification, previous experience in immigration law, and proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Spanish.

This role will work closely with our DOJ Accredited Representative to help individuals and families navigate the immigration process while advancing SERJobs' mission of creating pathways to opportunity and empowering our community.

Bring Your Kid to Work Day was full of questions! 🙋🏻‍♀️ As our young visitors explored SERJobs, they were curious to learn more about what different team members do and the programs they support.

In this video, see Samuel Taylor share a little about his role and the Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program (IVTP). IVTP supports justice-involved veterans as they transition back into the community by connecting them with VA benefits, housing assistance, job training, employment services, and other support.

The program provides career coaching, job readiness training, occupational skills training, placement assistance, and support services to help veterans build stability and move forward.

The SERJobs team had the honor of attending Arte Público Press' "Celebrate a Legacy of Latina Literature" luncheon alongside one of our great Board of Directors, Rhonda Gonzales Sepulveda. 📚✨

From the mariachi performance to exhibits featuring Arte Público Press, the Recovering the US Hispanic Literary Heritage program, Piñata Books, and the U.S. Latino Digital Humanities Center, the event was a powerful reminder of how much stories shape who we are and who we can become.

Seeing decades of history preserved, from original letters and family archives to the hundreds of books written by and for our communities, reinforced something we believe at SERJobs every day: when people see themselves represented, they see what's possible.

Alonso joins our Recruitment Team as the new Data & Administrative Support Intern. Over the next eight weeks, he'll help us keep our records organized and offer administrative support across the organization.

Terry’s journey is a powerful example of how education, dedication, and a commitment to your craft can lead to lasting success. ✅

A 2011 SERJobs HVACR Program alum, Terry went on to build a career in the HVAC industry and eventually founded Texcellent A/C Service, a Houston-area company focused on precision diagnostics and doing the job right.

Through hands-on experience, advanced training, and a commitment to continued learning, Terry has built a successful business while also giving back as a mentor to Houston’s skilled trades community.

Today, he continues to encourage the next generation of trades professionals to “never stop investing in your skills.”
