Houston Corps Members Are Becoming Builders
Now entering Year 2 of Houston's AI Coaching Pilot, Corps Members are continuing to explore what it means to be builders, innovators, and problem-solvers in their classrooms. The year launched with a gathering at The POST Houston, where first- and second-year pilot participants came together to connect, reflect, and begin envisioning the impact they want to create for students.
Since then, teachers have been identifying authentic instructional challenges they face every day, from differentiation and student engagement to academic vocabulary and data analysis. Building on the strong instructional resources and coaching already available to them, Corps Members are using design thinking to create their own solutions, developing AI-enabled tools and supports tailored to the unique needs of their students.
First-year participants are learning how to name classroom problems, prototype solutions, and test their ideas in practice. Second-year participants are refining and expanding the tools they built last year, collecting evidence of impact, and exploring ways to share their learning with colleagues and school communities.
The pilot is grounded in a simple belief: teachers are not just consumers of innovation, they are creators of it. By empowering educators to identify challenges, build solutions, and learn from implementation, we are cultivating teacher leadership, strengthening instructional practice, and creating better learning experiences for students.
