Enough said! Our doggos need to be inside if possible or have plenty of shade and water when they’re outside. It’s already 81 degrees this morning! 💜🐾🌡️ Stay cool, everyone!

Happy Friday, Houston! 🐾

We are kicking off the weekend with the sweetest kind of good news. Meet Harlee, adopted earlier this year and already living her best life as the center of her new family’s world.

She settled in fast, made herself right at home, and stole hearts along the way. As her adopters put it: “Harlee is the sweetest creature to touch this planet.”

Stories like Harlee’s are why we do what we do. Here’s to a weekend full of precious pets and happy endings! 💜

BARC Happy Tails!

Mojo was adopted earlier this year, and his family recently shared this heartfelt note with us:

"Hello! I just wanted to share Mojo's updated photo to show what a beautiful boy he has become! He is my best friend and very loved❤️. I am forever grateful that you favorited me with his adoption!"

You helped make this possible! Thanks to the generous support of our community, 5,721 adoptions happened at BARC over the last year, each one a new beginning for an animal who needed it most!

We're having a heat wave... PLEASE keep your pets shaded, have plenty of water available to them and keep them inside during the heat of the day if possible... Make sure to protect their paws by walking in the early morning or later in the evening. 💜🐾

Our friends at Barrio Dogs spent time with the team at BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions to see firsthand the work they do every day with limited resources.

To help educate and raise awareness, Barrio Dogs is hosting a community education webinar series alongside BARC.

We hope you can join us for the first session, City Animal Welfare Ordinances, on Thursday, July 23 at 6:00 PM. Learn about the laws that protect pets, what responsibilities come with pet ownership, and how to recognize and report animal cruelty and neglect.

All sessions are virtual. Find the Zoom link on Barrio Dogs’ Facebook events page.
