We had the incredible opportunity to present at the 7th Annual CCDV Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium 💙

The Symposium’s theme was “The Violence We Inherit: Breaking Generational Cycles of Trauma” and our presentation focused on “Strangulation in Intimate Relationships & Survivor Care”. The room was filled with legal professionals, advocates, healthcare providers, educators, people with lived experiences, and so much more. Thank you Collaborative Commission on Domestic Violence for having us, and thank you to the incredible audience for your participation, questions, and care!

⚠️Sexual Violence is NEVER okay⚠️

When harm gets brushed off, survivors learn to stay quiet. R**e culture isn't one big thing. It is a lot of small moments where people look the other way. We are seeing r**e culture in the news currently and it can be overwhelming.

Together, small moments can lead to change. Believing someone, checking on a friend, or saying "that's not funny" when jokes are made at victims' expense.

September 26 is World Contraception Day. 💙

For survivors of sexual assault, access to timely, accurate information about contraception options, including emergency contraception, is a critical part of trauma-informed care.

At TXFNE, our forensic nurses are trained to discuss these options with patients as part of a comprehensive exam, so survivors can make informed decisions about their own bodies and care. 💫

Happy National Forensic Science Week 🧬👩‍🔬

We wanted to give a shoutout to all of our Texas crime labs who do all of the testing of forensic evidence kits that our nurses collect. We had the opportunity to visit the Bexar County Forensic Science Center this week and are always so grateful for their knowledge and expertise in this field. Thank you to all Texas Crime Labs and all of the hard working forensic scientists and analysts!! 💙
