Living Hope is a nonprofit organization that serves people with mobility disabilities so they can lead full and productive lives. Our group was founded by people with spinal cord injuries, the majority of our members are not entitled to benefits, lack medical insurance, and do not have a stable source of income. We provide services to our members and engage in community advocacy to achieve our goals.Living Hope is a community based non-profit organization serving people with spinal cord injuries as well as with other mobility related disabilities so that they may lead full and productive lives. Suffering a catastrophic spinal cord injury has a brutal impact on a person’s life. If this person is an immigrant or a low-wage worker in the United States, then he or she is in an extremely vulnerable situation. During our existence as an organization we have been able to help each other first to survive the depression that comes after the accident, then to survive the problems that come with not having resources to buy medical supplies and equipment. We have learned to improve our quality of life through hope and solidarity, sharing what we have and organizing to get what we need.

Las emergencias pueden ocurrir en cualquier momento. Para las personas con discapacidad, estar preparados puede marcar la diferencia y salvar vidas.

En Living Hope Wheelchair Association, animamos a nuestra comunidad a tomar medidas sencillas pero importantes para mantenerse a salvo:

✅ Mantén una reserva adicional de medicamentos e información médica esencial.
✅ Revisa tu silla de ruedas y otros equipos de movilidad.
✅ Mantén las baterías cargadas y, cuando sea posible, ten una fuente de energía de respaldo.
✅ Conoce tus rutas de evacuación e identifica refugios accesibles.
✅ Ten a la mano tus contactos de emergencia y documentos importantes.

Emergencies can happen at any time. For people with disabilities, being prepared can make a life-saving difference.

At Living Hope Wheelchair Association, we encourage our community to take simple but important steps to stay safe:

✅ Keep an extra supply of medications and essential medical information.
✅ Check your wheelchair and other mobility equipment.
✅ Keep batteries charged and have backup power when possible.
✅ Know your evacuation routes and identify accessible shelters.
✅ Keep emergency contacts and important documents easily accessible.

💙 Preparedness is independence. Planning ahead helps protect your safety, dignity, and peace of mind.

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the second edition of the Houston Community Media Expo, Conference & Awards took place, bringing people together to build connections, learn about different organizations, and share ideas focused on community well-being and development.

A representative from Living Hope Wheelchair Association attended this important event, reaffirming the value of collaboration among organizations and the essential role communication plays in informing, educating, raising awareness, and creating a positive impact on society.
