Residents for Responders is a Texas nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization created to support the first responders of the Spring Valley Police Department. The organization was formed and organized by Spring Valley and Hilshire Village residents. The organization serves as an independent resource to the Spring Valley Police Department to show financial and moral support to the officers and staf

f in the form of anniversary and/or birthday gifts as well as a support fund for family emergencies. The role of Residents For Responders is not to replace funding or to reduce in any way the responsibility of Spring Valley Village to commit funding to the public safety of its citizens. Our Spring Valley Village Police officers and staff are rockstars! They have been a critical part of our storm recovery efforts, working nonstop over the past few days. Thanks to our generous members, RFR has been providing meals for officers at shift change since Friday. Many citizens have pitched in as well, including Spring Valley City Council member and RFR member Steve Bass, who has been grilling for the officers. We are blessed to live in such a great community!

We are pleased to recognize Sergeant Alberto Menchaca as the Spring Valley Village Police Officer of the Quarter. Sergeant Menchaca is a Spring Branch native, who graduated from Northbrook High. He continued his education at Sanford Brown College where he completed the business program. He then began his public service career by attending the University of Houston Police Academy. Upon completion of the Police Academy, Sergeant Menchaca began his successful career in law enforcement at the Harris County Precinct 7 Constable’s Office. He served precinct 7 as a Patrol Deputy and then became a Toll Road Authority Deputy.
Sergeant Menchaca began his service with the Spring Valley Village Police Department in June 2015 as a Patrol Officer. After becoming a Patrol Corporal, he was shortly thereafter promoted to his current position as Patrol Sergeant.
Sergeant Menchaca’s dedication and knowledge is a key asset to the Patrol Division’s success as he has completed all training to become one of our Crime Scene Investigator specialists, as well as a certified Crash Reconstructionist. Menchaca is also one of our Field Training Program Supervisors and does a tremendous job training and mentoring this agencies future successors.
Sergeant Menchaca is a devoted husband and father of 3 sons. He also serves SVPD along with his brother, Lt. Carlos Menchaca.
RFR just recognized his 8 years of service at the SVPD Family Day in the park in June. You will see Sergeant Menchaca on patrol during the day shift.
