Kindred is a way of life. We believe that God is on the move in Montrose, in the greater Houston area, and beyond. It’s that simple. The implications of following Jesus are complex, but the church doesn’t have to be complicated. We get to join God in the creation of a community that equips and empowers people

to love as we have been loved, to recognize the divine in the daily, and to be a light for justice and peace in our sacred city. We are a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and we are a “Reconciling in Christ” community (a formal way of saying that people of all races, genders, gender identities, abilities, sexual orientations, fashion sense, and political leanings are not only welcome, but embraced).

Today, Living Mosaic was honored to host Grace Place‘s press conference announcing Asia’s House, Houston’s first LGBTQ-affirming emergency shelter for youth ages 15–17.

Named in memory of Asia Jynaé Foster, a beloved member of the Grace Place community, Asia’s House will offer young people experiencing homelessness a safe place to rest, regroup, and imagine what comes next.

We’re grateful to celebrate this beautiful next chapter with our friends at Grace Place.

We’ve got two events at the church tonight! Come at 6 for the first of our quilting project in the art studio (enter via the courtyard). Then head down to the sanctuary at 7 to hear Houston City Council Members Salinas and Panzarella speak at the Hyde Park Civic Association meeting. We’ll have tea and snacks at both!

Today at 4:30, we’re excited to welcome a guest with deep expertise in Japanese tea culture for a live matcha demonstration and tasting.

Together we’ll explore what authentic matcha is, how it’s traditionally prepared, and how the ritual of making and sharing tea can become a practice of presence, hospitality, and conversation. Please join us!
