Happy Pollinator Week! We want to celebrate one of our favorite under-appreciated pollinators: the wasp. They all pollinate, even if they also eat other insects. We particularly love our solitary wasps who really don’t deserve a bad rap, because they don’t build paper nests or get territorial when you go near them. Many of them will also carry off caterpillars to feed their young, so they help keep your garden’s ecosystem balanced.

Happy Fauna Friend Friday, Apalone spinifera! We just love a spiny softshell turtle, a very unique freshwater dweller that relies on having nice, clean ponds, lakes, streams and rivers. They need to be well-populated because these are also among the biggest freshwater turtles in North America. They like to bury themselves in mud and sand and eat almost anything. Now that we’re done being serious… the snoooouuuut! Look at it! And the stripey eeyyyyeeee! Aaahhhh we love him so much 😍😍😍🐢

YOUR LAWN IS THIRSTIER THAN YOU THINK 💧🌿
Turfgrass is one of the most water-intensive choices you can make for your yard. Native plants? Evolved for your local climate. They need a fraction of the water and they bring back birds, butterflies, and pollinators too!

Join the FREE Less Lawn More Life Challenge: https://www.lesslawnmorelife.com/?ref=npsot

You'll get 12 weeks of expert-led actions to turn your outdoor space into a habitat that works WITH your local water system, not against it. There's a whole week dedicated to water management -- rainwater harvesting, rain gardens, and getting involved in watershed protection in your community.
