🌧️ After major rain events, Houston Parks Board’s Conservation & Maintenance teams are hard at work across the Bayou Greenways.

From clearing debris after flooded trails to restoring access points and maintaining safe conditions for trail users, their work helps keep Houston’s trail network functional, accessible, and welcoming after severe weather.

We’re grateful for the dedicated crews who help care for these spaces year-round. 🌿

Happy Bike to Work Day from Houston Parks Board 🚲

Our team hit the trails this week to celebrate the power of connected greenspaces and the many ways the Bayou Greenways network helps Houstonians move through the city. Whether commuting to work, getting active outdoors, or exploring neighborhoods, these trails provide safe and accessible connections for people across Houston.

We’re proud to support a trail network that helps make biking a part of everyday life while connecting communities to parks, nature, and one another.

Yesterday at Commissioners Court, three new trail segments along Sims Bayou Greenway were approved, marking another major step forward in improving connectivity across southeast Houston.

Through the continued public-private partnership between Houston Parks Board and the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis, these projects will add 1.4 miles of new trail connections designed to make it safer and easier for residents to walk, bike, and access destinations along the bayou.

The improvements include new underpasses beneath Scott Street and Cullen Boulevard, a bike and pedestrian bridge near Airport Boulevard, and expanded connections linking neighborhoods south of Orem Drive directly to the soon-to-be-open Hill at Sims, and Sims Bayou Greenway.

Together, these investments will help connect nearly 50,000 residents to greenspace, trails, and safer mobility options, while continuing the transformation of Sims Bayou into a more connected and accessible community asset for Houston.
