Please join us in welcoming Bradley Dennison & Dr. Suratha Elango to the Houston ISD Foundation Board of Directors!

Meet Bradley: As Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor with The Dennison Group at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, Bradley brings extensive expertise in financial planning, philanthropy, and community leadership. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is a dedicated volunteer and mentor, serving with organizations including The Beacon, Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston, and EMERGE Scholars.

Bradley's longstanding commitment to helping individuals and families build brighter futures aligns closely with our mission to expand opportunities for Houston ISD students and educators. As a proud Houston ISD parent, he brings both a personal connection to our work and a strong record of community leadership. We are excited to welcome his perspective and service to the Foundation.

Meet Suratha: As a primary care pediatrician with Texas Children's Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, Suratha has dedicated her career to supporting children and families. The conversation about student success shouldn't pause when the school year ends.

Research shows that students can lose academic progress over the summer when they lack access to books, enrichment opportunities, and other educational resources, a challenge often referred to as the "summer slide."

Educational success is shaped not only by what happens in the classroom, but also by access to experiences that spark curiosity, build skills, and broaden horizons. Summer programs, camps, internships, libraries, arts experiences, and other forms of enrichment can help students stay engaged, build new skills, and return to the classroom ready to learn.

Yet access to these opportunities is not equal. For many students and families, cost, transportation, and other barriers can limit participation, making community investment in educational opportunities more important than ever.

As we look ahead to the next school year, it's worth considering how communities can work together to expand access to these experiences and support students year-round.

At the Houston ISD Foundation, we believe every student deserves the resources and opportunities needed to reach their full potential, during the school year, throughout the summer, and beyond.

Today, we celebrate the Houston ISD Class of 2026!

Behind every graduate is a story of hard work, determination, encouragement, and opportunity. As thousands of Houston ISD seniors crossed the stage this weekend, we're reminded why investing in students matters.

Through the generosity of our donors and partners, the Houston ISD Foundation helps expand access to programs, resources, mentorship, and experiences that empower students to reach their full potential and pursue their dreams.

To our graduates: Congratulations! Your success inspires us, and we are honored to be part of a community that believes in your future.

To our supporters: Thank you for helping create opportunities that make moments like this possible.

When Samantha joined the debate team at Bellaire High School, she was intimidated more than anything else.

What she didn't expect was to find her voice, and a mentor in her debate coach who believed in her before she fully believed in herself.

"Mr. Stubbs saw potential in me early on and actively challenged me to stop letting my own doubts define what I could become. I've learned to break free from what confines me and move toward what inspires me."

Today, Samantha is headed to Harvard University on a pre-law track with dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer. Further down the road, she hopes to carry that work into public service as a U.S. senator representing Texas.

Through programs like the Debate Acceleration Initiative, made possible by the Houston ISD Foundation, students gain access to mentorship, opportunities, and experiences that help them discover what's possible.

One Program. One Mentor. A Lifetime of Impact.

Will you help more students like Samantha gain access to opportunities that help shape their futures? Visit give.houstonisdfoundation.org/impact to make a gift.

Community partnerships make a lasting impact!

We joined Walnut Bend Elementary School leadership and students plus representatives from Apache Corporation and the Houston Astros, to celebrate a $5,000 investment in student success.

Located just a short walk from Walnut Bend, Apache Corporation selected the school as the recipient of this gift through its partnership with the Astros. The funding will support technology needs at Walnut Bend, helping provide students with the tools they need to learn, create, and thrive.

Thank you to Apache Corporation for recognizing and investing in a school right in its own backyard, and to The Astros Foundation for helping make this opportunity possible. Together, we are creating brighter futures for Houston ISD students.

Ric Campo has exemplified what it means to show up for our students when it matters most. His leadership and steadfast commitment to education are both admirable and essential. As Board of Managers President and CEO of , he continues to champion opportunities for students across our community, and we were honored to recognize him as our Education Impact Award honoree at this year’s State of the District Luncheon.

Because of our partners, schools have access to resources that go beyond what public funding alone can provide. Expanding that support is critical to ensuring students and educators have what they need to succeed.

We believe in the promise of public education, and we’re proud to stand alongside those making it real every day.

Thank you, Ric, for your continued leadership and belief in what’s possible for HISD.
