Even with only four singers this year, the Alabama Civic Chorale was well represented in NYC at Carnegie Hall on December 1, 2025, with the presentation of the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Griffith. It was an incredible experience! Besides intense rehearsals for three days, we took every chance we had to see the sights. It's amazing what you can see when you get lost - like Times Square! Singers included Jenny Hickman, Laurie Smith, Freda York & Tammy Meacham.

Almost time! Are you registered?

Yes! This is July! But our 78th Season is almost here. It is a great time to be thinking about fall. MCooler temperatures . . . people getting back in school . . . vacations soon to be winding down.
** Only a few groups have shared this wonderful work as many times as the ACC.
** Our reputation means that last year we were invited to go to Carnegie Hall to sing and this year more are going.
** Our diligence to share the best means people come from all over our state and the Southeast to start their holiday season with our presentation.
** 2 years ago, our governor proclaimed performance day as Alabama Civic Chorale Day.

Members of the Alabama Civic Chorale attended a concert presented by Birmingham Baroque - an ensemble of four professional musicians who have spent a lifetime performing with various musical groups in the area. Their primary focus is the delightful music composed between 1600 and 1750. Instruments include violin, recorder, cello and harpsichord. The violinist is Bonnie Furuto, who is the orchestra contractor for our annual "Messiah" performance. The concert was held at the Homewood Public Library on June 10th.

On Thanksgiving Day 2024, about 35 members of the Alabama Civic Chorale and their guests traveled to New York City where the Chorale had been invited to be a part of a mass production of Handel's "Messiah" at Carnegie Hall. They attended many rehearsals but they also had fun! The production was a thrill of a lifetime & was presented to a sold out audience! We hope they invite us back again! Photos courtesy of Rod Carroll, ACC baritone and part of that large group!
