As two nonprofit organizations committed to preventing su***de in the state of Alabama, the Alabama Su***de Prevention and Resources Coalition (ASPARC) and The SAM Foundation have decided on the following proposal to better achieve our mission.

Effective January 1, 2027, the current operations of the SAM Foundation will be merged, rebranded, and continue operation under ASPARC.

Due to our current financial and political climate, resources for our work are scarce, while the need for su***de prevention and awareness work continues to rise (QPR Institute, CDC). It is our collective belief that collaboration—not competition—is the best strategy for our continued operations. We seek to combine our resources, expertise, experience, programs, and strengths together to address the su***de epidemic in Alabama with a cohesive, unified strategy.

Our two organizations have a combined 35 years of experience in su***de prevention education and survivor support. We are excited to merge our teams, allowing us to have a broader reach across the state of Alabama. All the existing programs and operations of both organizations will continue under ASPARC.

We acknowledge that there are many organizations doing good work across the state of Alabama in su***de prevention and mental health. Our desire to unite these organizations through a shared network to coordinate our efforts in alignment with the state su***de prevention plan.
