🎃 Dothan Area Support Group Fun! 🍬
The Dothan Area Support Group enjoyed some Halloween-themed fun with Scattergories and an ADL Trick-or-Treat Challenge, using tongs and a timer to collect a variety of goodies while making sure to grab at least one of each item.

A little friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and a creative way to practice everyday skills! 👻

We love seeing our support groups find fun and engaging ways to connect, learn, and enjoy time together!

🥁 Making music and memories at Camp McDowell! 🎶 Our clients and caregivers enjoyed a fun percussion activity, exploring a variety of instruments, finding their rhythm, and making music together. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, participate, and share a little joy through music!

🍂 Our Mobile Area Support Group is getting into the autumn spirit! 🎃

With the help of recreational therapy students from the University of South Alabama (USA), our clients enjoyed a fall-themed support group filled with fun, creativity, and connection.

From Fall Scattergories and pumpkin bowling, everyone had opportunities to practice cognitive skills, communicate with others, think creatively, and reflect on personal growth and change.

Activities like these remind us that support groups are about more than support — they’re about building friendships, sharing experiences, and finding joy in community along the recovery journey.

A big thank-you to the USA recreational therapy students for leading these engaging activities and helping our clients welcome the season! 🍁

Driving after TBI... Great article from UAB Dept. of Physical & Rehab Medicine and the UAB Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (UAB-TBIMS)

UAB researchers are studying how driving simulators and neuropsychological testing can help predict when people with traumatic brain injury can safely return to driving, improving recovery, independence and clinical decision-making.

We are honored to announce that our Executive Director, Scott Powell, has been selected to serve as the Consumer Member Representative for the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy!

This appointment is a wonderful recognition of Scott’s leadership and the work AHIF continues to do to connect our clients with meaningful therapy opportunities through programs like our Bright Ideas Camps.
