Our offices are closed today, Monday, September 7th, as we take time to celebrate Labor Day!

We believe God made us to work with our hands — to care for ourselves, our families, and His creation. But He also made us to rest. Today, we're grateful for the gift of both.

We'll reopen tomorrow at 9:00 AM and can't wait to get back to serving our community.

🙏 Sunday Devotion 🙏

"Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases." — Psalm 115:3 (ESV)

Every day, we walk alongside families who have left everything behind — home, country, everything familiar — often not knowing what tomorrow holds. But we serve a God who is never surprised, never overwhelmed, and never out of control. He reigns over every border, every journey, and every new beginning.

As we go about our week, may we rest in the truth that our God is sovereign over it all — over the families we serve, over the volunteers who show up, and over every step of this ministry.

📢 We're Hiring — Come Make a Difference With Us! 📢

Cross Cultural Connections is growing, and we're looking for two passionate people to join our team!

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Youth Services Director (Part-Time) 25–30 hours per week, including some nights and weekends. This role includes recruiting and overseeing volunteers for larger events, providing childcare at smaller events, and leading four week-long Kids Camps per year at our facility. If you love kids and love leading volunteers, this could be the perfect fit!

📋 Resettlement Case Manager (Full-Time) A social work degree is preferred but not required. In this role, you'll pick families up from the airport, help them find housing, help them get jobs, and walk with them as they work toward self-sufficiency — all within their first 90 days in the U.S. We need someone who can juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with a real sense of urgency.

🚗 We Need Car Donations — Our Waitlist Is Growing! 🚗

Right now, we have five people who have been on our car waitlist for over four months, and we just added four new families to the list.

A car isn't just transportation for our clients — it's the difference between getting to a job, taking a child to school, or making it to a doctor's appointment. Birmingham isn't a walkable city, and public transit here is limited — most of the metro area is considered car-dependent, with bus service that doesn't run on Sundays and doesn't reach every neighborhood. Without a car, it's incredibly difficult for our clients to get to work, run errands, or access basic services, no matter how hard they're working toward self-sufficiency.

If you have a car you'd be willing to donate, you could be the answer for a family who has been waiting months for this kind of help.

📢 Reminder for our ESL students!

English class assessments are TONIGHT, September 1st, and Thursday night, September 3rd, at 6:30 PM at the CCC building.

Classes are FREE and run through the whole school year. But you must complete your assessment and join before September 17th. If you miss this window, you will have to wait until January to join a class.

Come tonight or Thursday. Get your assessment done. Start classes strong next week!

Don't forget to get your punch card! Get it punched every class, and once it's full, you'll earn a basket full of hygiene and cleaning supplies plus a $10 gift card. 🎟️🧺
