We offer a lifeline to underdog animal rescue squads across the planet. Our partners are the small but incredibly courageous animal rescue teams who operate in parts of the world where animal welfare is quite poor. Our supporters are dramatically impacting thousands upon thousands of animals who might otherwise go without food, shelter and veterinary care. Here’s some of the work we do:

1. Food a

nd veterinary care for animals in struggling rescue centers
2. Street feeding patrols to provide daily meals for homeless dogs and cats in several countries
3. Anti-snaring patrols and wildlife rehabilitation in Africa
4. Care for rescued farm animals
5. Legal initiatives to fight cruelty and neglect
6. Spay/neuter campaigns for homeless and rescued animals
7. Supplemental food as well as rescue and adoptions for dogs in neglectful pounds

Gratitude and respect are at the cornerstone of our relationship with our supporters. We do not expose our supporters to graphic photos of animal suffering or distribute dire forecasts about animal suffering. Instead we focus on a spirit of joy and determination as we pursue essential operations to provide food, veterinary medicine, shelter and protection from cruelty for animals worldwide.

Go to bed at 1 AM. Wake up five hours later at 6 AM because elderly dog is barking to go out to p*e. Spend the next hour feeding animals, medicating animals, scooping litter boxes, scooping p**p in the yard. Log onto the computer to find at least a half dozen pleas for help for several hundred animals internationally. More footage from the war zones. More shelters running out of food for their dogs and cats. Bang head on desk. Sigh. Say a little prayer. And dive right in .

Sharing some love from our colleagues at Turgwe Hippo Trust in Zimbabwe. Together, we are protecting the lives of wild animals through an amazing anti-snaring team who prevent the sneering of wild animals. All of the animals in this video forage for their own food, but they enjoy occasional treats from these special wildlife protectors. Be sure to follow us to enjoy amazing animal rescue footage from all over the world. We would be grateful to have your support

I WASN’T SWIMMING IN YOUR POOL.
I WAS CIRCLING A WALL I COULD NOT CLIMB.

You saw me near the blue water.

Small.
Dark.
Moving slowly along the edge.

Maybe you thought I liked it there.

Maybe you thought I had chosen your pool like it was a pond.
Maybe you waited for me to “find my way out.”

But I was not swimming.

I was trapped.

I am a toad.

My body is made for damp grass, garden soil, leaves, night air, and insects under porch lights.

Not smooth tile.
Not chlorine.
Not a deep blue wall with no root, rock, mud, or branch to hold.

I kept circling because every wild body searches for an edge that makes sense.

But your pool had no shore.

The water touched my skin.
The chemicals touched my skin.
My strength ran out one circle at a time.

Please do not leave me for morning.

Use a pool net, bucket, or container to lift me out gently.
Place me in a shaded, damp spot away from the pool.
Check the skimmer basket before turning the pump on.

And please give the next small life a way out.

A floating escape ramp.
A rough board.
A rope along the edge.
A pool cover when the pool is not in use.

Because I was not enjoying your backyard.

I was drowning quietly
beside a wall that looked like water
but had no way back to land.

Backyard pools can be deadly for wildlife because animals may fall in or mistake them for natural water, then be unable to climb out over steep, smooth sides. Humane World recommends escape devices such as FrogLog or Skamper-Ramp, and PETA also suggests ramps, ropes near the waterline, pool covers, and fencing to reduce drownings.

Bomb Strikes Animal Shelter. Help Is On The Way

Ugolyok Sanctuary in Ukraine was built to save animals from death. Now, it is fighting for survival itself. More than a decade ago, Harmony Fund stood beside Ugolyok founder Alexandra when she fought to save a farm in Balivka and the lives trapped within it. Today she and the animals need our help again.

“I still remember that day,” said Harmony Fund Founder Laura O’Brien. “Alexandra had just returned from seeing the property. She wanted to buy the farm and rescue the many pigs who lived there. When her offer went in, the owner chillingly promised to slaughter every animal before she moved in. Clearly, he did not understand who he was speaking to."

Instead, those animals were saved. With Harmony Fund’s help, that land in Balivka became a sanctuary. Cows, horses, goats, donkeys, dogs, cats, and so many others began living under golden sunsets instead of in the shadow of death.

“The animals that once lived there as property became a part of the fabric of this rescue center,” Laura said. “They soaked in golden sunsets in peace, knowing that tomorrow would not bring butchers who had killed their brothers and sisters, butchers who would never be welcome here again.”

Now, that sanctuary is under attack of a different kind. Two days ago, a heavy missile struck the community of Balivka, destroying every living thing in its path. Many people nearby were killed.

“We are all shocked,” Alexandra shared from her hospital bed, typing into her phone with one hand and an IV inserted into the other. “It was heaven-sent protection that only a few animals died. At this location, there are 106 pigs, 80 cows, 40 horses, ponies and donkeys, 38 cats, and 120 dogs.”

Ugolyok has two other campuses, in Kherson and Dnepr, and there is no possibility of moving animals there. Kherson is under occupation by Russian forces and the Dnepr shelter is 80 Km from the battle zone. Danger is growing.

Now the heartbreaking question is this: Do we repair what war has damaged, or do we help them relocate to safer ground? Safe land in Ukraine is scarce. To move hundreds of large animals to a safer region, it could cost more than $100,000 just to secure land large enough to shelter them, and we're not even sure we can find such a place. Right now, we do not have all the answers. But we do know this: Ugolyok is part of the Harmony Fund rescue family. We have helped save this sanctuary before, and now, in one of its darkest hours, they need us again. Donations will help in either repairing the shelter or relocating the animals. Please understand that this disaster only happened days ago and it takes time to figure out a solution for so many animals. We have made the decision not to share any graphic or upsetting photos as that is always our policy.
