Special Recognition to Warren Cobb - Information Services Librarian at the Hilton Head Island Public Library who gave a great presentation regarding all things modern library - connecting people to whatever they are looking for.

Brainstorming service projects and fundraising projects during tonight’s board meeting. A service project we are working on is a Teddy Bear collection.

Have some Teddy’s at home?

The teddys will be very helpful to local law enforcement and fire departments within Beaufort County to give to kids during times of need for emotional support.

Happy Thanksgiving Lions near and far.

Dr. Helen Bland, professor at Georgia Southern University of public and community health has done extensive international work serving those in need in Haiti, Ecuador, and Dominican Relublic. She worked specifically with medical translation internationally for those in need working with other medical professionals giving their hearts, their medical expertise, as well as providing glasses to those that have never seen clearly until now.

The bag loads of donated glasses from Beaufort County have helped 460 people in Dominican Republic …one of those a 70 year old man who had not seen in 10 years…

Her next trip to Dominican Republic is 7-13 to 7-20-2024 so all donated glasses mean so much!!

We have donation eye glass drop boxes all over Hilton Head…bring yours to our meeting location at the Hilton Head Island Public library behind the reference desk…the sooner the better so that the students at Georgia Southern can read them and segregate them according to glasses prescription strength.

Thank you Dr. Bland for your great presentation as well as your work all over the world serving those in need.
