Project Hope 127

The Ebola outbreak in eastern D.R. Congo is the fastest growing on record. As of early October, almost 8,600 cases have been officially recorded, with more than 4,150 deaths.

In Ituri Province, the epicenter of the outbreak, Harvesters has provided food relief through our local churches in the area. Christians there have long suffered violent persecution at the hands of the ADF, an Islamic terrorist group. The ADF and other armed factions have also hindered the response to Ebola.

Goma, where our Project Hope 127 orphanages are located, has reported only a few cases. School is still in session to allow the children to continue with a normal schedule. However, the population has been impacted by higher food prices and loss of income resulting from travel restrictions. Harvesters has also distributed food to families in Goma who are struggling to meet their basic needs.

In the midst of this crisis, we are grateful for the opportunity to help our brothers and sisters in Christ and families in need. Thank you for your prayers and generosity, which allow us to respond when communities face devastating circumstances.

💙 Look how far Lawrence has come!

When our team first met Lawrence in 2024, he was just two years old and severely malnourished, struggling with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. He could not sit, crawl, or walk and depended completely on others for his care.

Through God’s provision, Lawrence received life-changing surgery. Today, with regular physical therapy and dedicated care, he can stand, walk with crutches, and is even beginning to stand on his own! 🙏

Lawrence is one of many children whose lives are being transformed through Project Hope 127’s Special Needs Children’s Initiative in Uganda. New classrooms and a kitchen have recently been completed, allowing the ministry to provide even more care and support.

Lawrence’s progress is an incredible answer to prayer. Please pray with us that God will provide the resources needed to expand the ministry and continue transforming lives.

Meet Bhagya 👋🏾

“My name is Bhagya, and I am 14 years old. I’m in the 7th grade and like to study Telugu and play carrom (a board game). My dad had a heart attack and is unable to work. Many times we have starved for food. I live in the SAC Children’s Home so that I can have food to eat and attend school. Please pray for my parents to be well fed and my dad to be healed. Meet Aimerance 👋🏾

“My name is Aimerance, and I am nine years old. I live at Free Life Children’s Home in D.R. Congo. My father was a soldier in the loyalist army. In May 2022, he was killed by rebels when he was at the battlefield. In November 2023, the M23 rebels came to our house. They asked my mom to give them the weapon that my father used. She told them that she didn't have it, so the rebels killed her.”
